As a mark of respect for Ruth Bader-Ginsburg, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, the White House has directed, by the authority vested... in the President of the United States by the Constitution and laws of the United States of America, including chapter 1, section 7(m) of Title 4, United States Code, that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff until sunset on the day of interment. Today, on National POW/MIA Recognition Day, we remember the men and women who bravely left their homes to defend our country, only to never return. The Town of Hempstead will continue to #HonorThem and remember the sacrifices made by our American heroes. #YouAreNotForgotten

On September 16, 1919 the U.S. Congress issued the federal charter of The American Legion. It was established to support and assist veterans returning from Worl...d War I. Since then it has grown and supported veterans of all wars, and veterans of peacetime as well. They provide a social community and mutual aid to all members. Today, membership stands at over 2.4 million in 14,000 posts worldwide. The posts are organized into 55 departments: one each for the 50 states, along with the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, France, Mexico and the Philippines. Happy American Legion Day!

Purple Heart Day is observed on August 7 each year and is recognized as a day for American citizens to pause and remember the brave men and women who were either wounded on the battlefield or paid the ultimate sacrifice with their lives.

Borrowed this from a my Vietnam Vets group .... Vietnam veterans with illnesses caused by Agent Orange, continue to march into the Vietnam Wall to join their f...allen brothers. These men and women will not be remembered as fatalities of the Vietnam War. Their names will not be engraved into the Vietnam Wall...yet they are still victims of the Vietnam War. These veterans have died slow painful deaths BECAUSE of their country and will not be remembered as dying FOR their country. This is truly a gripping photograph of the Vietnam Memorial in Rochester, New York. HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE REALLY DIED BECAUSE OF THE VIETNAM WAR? THE ANSWER WOULD BE ASTOUNDING! If you would...please email this to your local Congressman or Senator. It would send a strong message for the families of Vietnam veterans who lost loved ones due to Agent Orange. Thank you, George "Ben" Norman - As of 5/20/20 this post has been shared over 635,000 times. *This Vietnam Veterans Memorial is located in Highland Park, Rochester, New York. The bronze figure was carved by Wayne Williams, installed in 1996. The photograph is by Richard Margolis as part of the Rochester Public Art web site. Prints are available from their web site.
