Welcome to OCWA Water Wednesday! In recent weeks, a number of OCWA residential customers have contacted our Customer Service Department inquiring as to why their quarterly water bills are higher than normal. Today, OCWA issued a statement explaining the reasons for some of these higher than normal bills, which center around higher than normal consumption. Importantly, OCWA has NOT raised its rates. OCWACentral New York’s Water Authority--recently published the third in a series of articles discussing issues relating to the quality of its drinking water. This article focuses on fluoridation. Fluoride is the 13th most abundant element in the Earth's crust. OCWA is required by regulation to fluoridate its water to minimum levels in order to help prevent tooth decay.
