Please help us congratulate Lauren, our newest EMP college graduate! This is OHFF’s first time participating in a virtual graduation, but no scaled back ceremony can stop us from beaming with pride over Lauren completing her four-year degree with over a 3.6 GPA! Congratulations to you, Lauren! We look forward to seeing you spread your wings and soar.
OHFF is always in search of internships for the mothers in our Transformation Squared Program and the students in our Educational mentoring Program. If you or someone you know is in a position to offer an internship to one or more of our deserving program participants, please message us at [email protected].
When Eric entered the EMP program a few years ago he really struggled academically. We immediately paired him with a tutor who has an excellent track record for helping students find something that excites them about each of their courses, and today he is earning mostly A’s and B’s. Eric is an excellent reminder of why we do this work, and that with the right support, we can all become the best versions of ourselves.
After months of living in a shelter with her infant daughter, Natalia - one of the amazing mothers in our Transformation Squared Program will be moving into an apartment of her own! Earlier this year she found a temporary job, making $25/hr, and is now being considered for full time employment with the same company. OHFF is so proud of Natalia and the hard work she’s put into creating a stable life for herself and her daughter.
We’re excited to announce that OHFF has been awarded a grant from the Highwind Impact Fund, which will be used to provide hotspot devices and annual data plans to our 2021 Transformation Squared Cohorts. This is a huge help for the women in our program, many of whom are conducting job searches, internships and helping their children with online learning from shelters or other temporary housing.
Please help us congratulate our EMP student, Chantel. In spite of a very challenging first semester away at college, she managed a part time job, while taking seven classes and ended the semester with a 4.0 GPA! Everyone at OHFF is pretty sure we’ll be working for Chantel someday, and we’re looking forward to it.
EMP student, Elizabeth, is a musical theater major. She was recently cast as the lead in her school’s Spring production. Due to covid restrictions, the production is being shot entirely via Zoom a challenge Elizabeth is ready to take on! Please help us congratulate her as she gets ready for her close up!
According to the Department of Labor, the US cut 140,000 jobs in December. All of the jobs were lost by women, who tend to work in more fragile economic sectors. With this in mind, OHFF is working hard to help the mothers in our Transformation Squared Program find and retain career-path, recession proof employment to stabilize their families during this very difficult time.
Our EMP students are heading to campus for their Spring semester. For some of our Freshmen, this is the first time they’re being allowed to learn in person, stay in dormitories and enjoy a real college experience. Please help us wish them all well as they learn to navigate their new environments!
The New Year brings with it renewed energy, focus and endless possibilities. At OHFF, we look forward to seeing our EMP students and the mothers in our Transformation Squared program push past their old boundaries, embrace the challenges ahead and soar to new heights this year. Here’s to a great year!
Happy Holidays from all of us at Of Home, Family and Future. We wish our entire OHFFamily our followers, program participants, partners and supporters - a safe, healthy holiday season and a prosperous new year.
Please help us congratulate our EMP Students for pushing past the many, unprecedented obstacles they’ve encountered for the past two semesters. Through all the chaos this year, they’ve remained focused and committed to reaching their goals, and we couldn’t be more proud of them. Onward and upward!
