Unfortunately, we were informed late this afternoon that another CPCS staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. In order to protect the health and safety of all, students in grades Pre-k through 4th grade will be remote Monday, December 7. Special Education students in a BOCES program will still attend in-person and be transported. We will continue to work closely with the St. Lawrence County Department of Public Health to assist with their contact tracing procedure and... will make a decision collaboratively regarding a return to in-person instruction. I will share information regarding this plan when it becomes available. If you or your child came in contact with the positive individual, you will be contacted directly by Public Health. We will do our best tomorrow to preemptively contact families who may be affected, but keep in mind that anyone who is deemed to be a direct contact of the positive individual will be officially contacted directly by Public Health. While I understand that you have many questions and concerns, I cannot share any identifying information regarding the positive individual. We are experiencing a spike in COVID cases in our county. Please continue to diligently practice social distancing, mask-wearing in public, and proper hygiene and stay home if you are feeling sick. As a reminder, if you have concerns and would like to seek COVID-19 testing proactively for you or your child, there are testing sites available throughout the county. Contact information is included below. Thankfully, the St. Lawrence County Department of Public Health has completed the contact tracing process related to the positive case in our school and at this time we have been advised that it is safe to resume in-person learning on Monday, December 7th. We will continue to work closely with the St. Lawrence County Department of Public Health to assess the situation and review the data. If you have NOT been contacted by our school nurse or Public Health and instructed to q...uarantine, then your child may return to school. We have been advised that schools are the safest place for children to be at this time. Evidence suggests that COVID is not spread in schools due to the highly regulated environment where safety measures are strictly enforced. However, please be aware that we are experiencing a spike in COVID cases in our area. In order to keep our schools open, we ask you to please adhere to the safety guidelines and practice mask-wearing, social distancing, and proper hygiene. Do not host or attend gatherings and stay home and seek testing if you are ill.

Unfortunately, we were informed earlier this morning that a CPCS staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. The staff member was last in the building on 12/1. In order to protect the health and safety of all, we have dismissed early today and will immediately pivot to remote learning. Students are expected to report for remote learning at 9:45AM. We will continue to work closely with the St. Lawrence County Department of Public Health to assist with their contact tracing... procedure, and will make a decision collaboratively regarding a return to in-person instruction. We found out this morning that we have a positive staff member. Out of an abundance of caution, we are going to send every student home today so we can review and accurately contact trace. We will be busing or sending students home over the next hour. Office staff will be calling parents. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

The CDC has shared guidance regarding celebrating Thanksgiving during COVID-19. Gatherings with family and friends who do not live with you can increase the chances of getting or spreading COVID-19 or the flu.
