Please Help! Donations Needed for our Dog Park Shandaken Animal Volunteer Effort (S.A.V.E.) is looking for donations to benefit the SHANDAKEN DOG PARK - Rt. 42, Glenbrook Park. Volunteers are ready to go but we need funds to help - we would like a new storage shed and would like to help with the funding of replacing the gates, etc. Thank you in advance for anything you can spare. On 12/24/1955 a Sears store placed an ad in a Colorado Springs newspaper telling kids they could call Santa Claus. The number in the ad incorrectly forwarded tykes to the Continental Air Defense Command (CONAD) Center. Colonel Shoup, on duty that night, told his staff to give the tiny callers a "current location" for Santa Claus. Thus began a tradition that continues, via NORAD, to this day.
