The Irvington Woods Parks and O'Hara Nature Center salute our heroes! This weekend under the Leadership of CJ Reilly, Peter Strom, Nikki Coddington and Dave Zwi...ebel volunteers continues our attack on Invasive mines. The focused on the area below Hermits Grave. Much more work to be done and we need more help, In addition we planted 75 New saplings yesterday and Dave Zwiebel used our newest piece of equipment, We now have a milling saw to take felled trees and make wood to use to build tables and benches and much more. Chet Kerr donated the Milling saw! We are grateful to all! See more

O'Hara Nature Center 06.06.2021

Have you ever wondered how farmers can take one variety of an apple tree and graft it on to another to get a better fruit or to preserve the genetics of an heirloom variety? Or how the process of grafting is being applied by scientists to make certain varieties of trees more adaptive to climate change? Participating are learning just that at this Apple Grafting Workshop going on now at the O'Hara Nature Center.

It's a beautiful day to be in Irvington- adult ultimate frisbee and tennis at Memorial Park, youth baseball at Scenic Hudson Park, and Apple Grafting Wornshop at the O'Hara Nature Center. Go out and play!

Even in the rain and gloom of today Eagle Scout Ben Talty, his parents, David Zwiebel of the IWC and Parks Staff CJ Reilly and Chris DiNardo made amazing strides on the new path to the lower Marsh in the Irvington Woods Park. Their work continues tomorrow.
