To promote #WorkZoneSafetyAwareness, OHL Community Asphalt’s Assistant Safety Manager, Alejandro Zonew, coordinated various presentations for OHL workers at two of our Florida Turnpike projects and for our employees at the OHL Community Asphalt plant in West Palm Beach. Included among the speakers were: David Feise, president of Arrive Alive Traffic Control, Richard Diaz, general manager of Arrive Alive Traffic Control, and Dennis Mantjos, a risk control consultant from Trave...lers Insurance. All gave a comprehensive presentation to raise safety awareness in work zones to ensure that #OHLCommunityAsphalt workers on our Florida highway projects return home safely every night to their families. The central theme from this important training was: Pay Attention & Be Aware and most of all SLOW DOWN! According to 2015-2019 statewide crash data, Florida experienced more than 50,000 work zone-related crashes, including more than 380 fatalities and more than 2,400 severe injuries. To combat crashes in work zone areas, Florida DOT’s efforts focus on: Enforcing traffic laws within the Work Zone Area AND raising public awareness and education regarding Work Zone safety. #OHLNA #ohlcommunityasphalt #OHLUSA #safetyfirst #safety #safetyculture #healthandsafetyatwork

At the New Hope-Placentia Trunk Sewer Replacement project in Anaheim, CA, OHL USA kicked off National Construction Safety Week with a presentation from Trench Shoring representatives, Jim White and David Noorigan, along with Site Safety Manager, Victor Dominguez Jr. The trio led a comprehensive safety training focusing on practices that are of the utmost importance when performing trench shoring, which is the process of bracing walls of a trench to prevent collapse and cave-i...ns. Victor, Jim, and David stressed the importance of knowing the locations of all underground utility systems. It is also highly recommended to test for hazardous fumes, toxic gases, and areas of low oxygen prior to beginning trench work activities. Perhaps the most valuable takeaway is that protective systems must be used for trenches that are five feet deep or larger unless the area is surrounded by stable rock materials. #OHLNA #OHLUSA #SafetyFirst #trenchsafety #SafetyCulture #healthandsafetyatwork #NationalConstructionSafetyWeek See more

#OHLBuilding's work crews assigned to the Jackson North Medical Center project in North Miami took part in a National Safety Stand-Down presentation led by our very own Joseph Fiore, one of OHL Building's safety managers. Special attention was paid to the modifications necessary when working in public spaces within an active hospital environment.
