Today, we are thinking of Paul Piperato, his wife Flora, their daughters and the rest of the Piperato family. Paul was a wonderful man, kind, generous, and a leader in a quiet way. Paul served on the One to One Learning Board of Directors for 2 terms and was the MC at the Gala event even after he left the board. Paul was a great support to immigrants and believed in our mission. He always said that his best event was the Naturalization event which he coordinated. In fact, it was Paul who got the permission to have it in the county so that folks would not have to go downtown to be sworn in. He called me about two weeks ago to see how we were doing. Of course he had bought a Limited Raffle ticket. We will be thinking of Paul and praying for his wife Flora and his family. He is now resting peacefully in the Heart of God.

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, many non-profits have had to reschedule/cancel their fundraising events. Sadly, One to One Learning’s biggest fundraiser of the year, the Hands of Hope Gala which is held each May, is also canceled. However, we are still going forward with our Limited Raffle with winning tickets drawn on Friday, May 8th. The winners will be contacted by phone or email. One to One Learning, Inc. is an outstanding program, providing English classes and other services to individuals who are new to our country. The students represent many different countries and cultures, and each one of their stories is truly an inspiration. Their desire to learn and reach their full potential is extraordinary. During the pandemic One to One Learning has been connecting with students. Some students have needed food, and we've provided gift cards to shop rite and/or have connected them to a list resources throughout the county. Join us at the One to One Learning Valentine dinner at 640 N. Midland Ave. Nyack, New York on Saturday February 15th. Welcome at 5 PM, Dinner served at 6:30 Door prizes, Raffles, (prizes $100 gift cards to Stop and Shop, Macy's, and Target, Wireless Blue tooth EarBuds, Google Home Speaker, 2 and 1/4 lb of Whitman's Chocolates) + many other prizes, toys, and games. As many non-profits we are excited to be a part of GivingTuesday. A donation of any amount is truly appreciated and will help us continue our work to help the many students and families that are part of One to One Learning. #givingtuesday

Classes are in full swing at One to One, with everyone eager to learn. We appreciate the volunteer efforts of all the individuals that take time from their busy schedules to come and patiently teach our students English. Las clases están en pleno apogeo en One to One, con todos ansiosos por aprender. Agradecemos los esfuerzos voluntarios de todas las personas que toman tiempo de sus ocupados horarios para venir y enseñar pacientemente a nuestros estudiantes inglés.

On September 15th we held the 10th Annual StarFest Concert & Mini Taste of Rockland on the beautiful grounds of Marydell Faith and Life Center in Nyack. It was a wonderful afternoon that benefited the mission of One to One Learning. Thank you all that participated and thank you to all the performers that entertained the audience.
