This customer took his malfunctioning 2009 MBP to the Apple Store, who told him It’s not fixable, even if it was, it would cost more than its worth. Come w/ me I‘ll show you the newest 16 MacBook Pro starting at just $2400 Knowing better... the customer decided to take it to the other guys at the Computer Repair Shop across town. They gave a similar diagnosis Its your Graphics Card (a common issue with this year/model), it’s not repairable (not true) and if it was it wo...uld cost more than its worth (not true) and the only other option is to replace the logic board (also not true). However, he was nice enough to offer to remove the hard drive for him. As he got in his car to leave the customer changed his mind. He went back in and told the tech to just give him back his laptop so he could think about it before deciding what to do. Then he brought it here. As any professional and knowledgeable repair technician would do, I start with a thorough examination, take note of the symptoms leading up to it failing, current symptoms, then toss out any and all previous diagnosis from previous shops & start fresh with my own. Thoroughly examine all components involved and attempt to replicate the issue, once replicated form an independent and accurate diagnosis based on previous experience, research, and knowledge/understanding of the system you’re working with. Decide on appropriate solution(s) and present them to the customer. The solution in this case?? Reinstall the unnecessarily removed hard drive, disconnect the battery & power cord, then press & hold the power button for 10 seconds or more. Reconnect the battery and attempt to boot Problem solved! Graphics card, logic board, hard drive, and all other features/functions perform as they should. To ensure the solution repaired the issue, thoroughly check for any other bugs/software issues, available updates, or potential concerns. Thoroughly clean the device. Then.. Call the customer & tell them they just saved a bunch of money by choosing the Pros at IFIX. Anyone can give you a diagnosis... That doesn’t mean its the correct one. Maybe this customer will choose to repair his trackpad instead...

This is why we don’t recommend the cheap China Bands for the Apple Watches. This band was broken off inside the Apple Watch Band Grooves because it expanded and was unable to be squeezed and released by the normal release mechanism anymore. Thankfully (THIS TIME) I was able to remove the remains without damaging the release, groove, or watch... but this is often NOT the case.
