Sport psychology tip: The voice inside your head is just your ego; an involuntary function of the brain. Over-identifying with this voice will lead to anxiety and racing thoughts, making it impossible to relax into flow. To release attachment to your thoughts, start by sitting back and observing them for what they are. Then, let them pass by redirecting your attention outward with some simple breath work or by focusing on your senses. Ego is the enemy of high performance. Stillness is key.

#mission22 rolls- 2021

A reminder from the stoic philosopher and Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius in his book "Meditations". "Feeling depressed or anxious is a sign that you are not present. You are either anxiously projecting the future or depressed and stuck in the past. The only thing you have any control over is the present moment; simple breathing exercises can make us calm and present instantly."

Happy Memorial day, everybody. In lieu of regular classes tonight, we will all meet @ 5:30pm for our annual #mission22 rolls. We will roll 22, 4-minute rounds to commemorate the 22 Veterans who take their own lives each day. 1 flag will be hung for each round completed. ... We should be finished by 7:00, and you do not need to roll every round!

Here's a cool match from the finals of the Open Weight division at last months Grappling Industries, versus a fellow black belt and heavyweight Bellator MMA & Fight2Win veteran. In total, our team had almost 100 matches that day!

Here's a fun drill you can do without mats, and even with your kids. First person to get upper body control wins (double under hooks, rear clinch, front headlock). To change it up, try different environments (hillsides, between vehicles etc), or make (gentle) slaps legal from the clinch.

This quote by Mark Twain is a beautiful illustration of how most of our problems are simply an illusion rooted in either the past or the future. Reality lies in the present moment, where for the most part, everything is perfectly fine. Be here. Now!
