Holidays can be really hard for people, including children with and without special needs. The meltdowns you may be seeing are their way of communicating with us.

A young OWL community member was so mesmerized by this water feature at New Asbury Gardens Outdoor Living and Garden Center that he took a video and did his own research about laminar flow, finding this explanation on youtube from Smarter Every Day: https://youtu.be/y7Hyc3MRKno What local finds inspire the children (or adults!) in your life to seek more information? Repost from Delaware County, NY Department of Mental Health: free guided mindfulness exercises for adults & children!
Many thanks to Hartwick College for this show of support for the Oneonta community! OWL being a volunteer-run organization in a space donated by the Town of Oneonta, our overhead is low & we look forward to reopening to the public on the other side of all this. In the meantime, the building is available for private use by self-selected groups (Girl Scouts, homeschool pods, etc) by donation. Additional support is needed to keep the heat on, hot water heater installed, insuran...ce up to date, and forward-planning projects on track. Please consider making a donation to: Oneonta World of Learning 167 Youngs Road Oneonta, NY 13820 or via Paypal to [email protected] Thank you for all of your interest & support! See more

Repost for Noah's World: (As the OWL PlayHouse has no employees & relatively low overhead, we will still be here on the other side of this pandemic, but it would be a huge loss to our community for this other vibrant playspace to close!)

Otsego County is seeking input from parents and guardians to better assess daycare needs for this upcoming school year. With schools following a full-time or partially remote schedule this fall, many parents are trying to figure out where to send their kids on virtual learning days while they’re at work. A link to the survey is at otsegocounty.com and will be open until Thursday.
