This upcoming week some of our members will be recording a trio sonata by the French harpsichordist and composer, Elisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre! Elisabeth was born into a family of musicians and luthiers in 1665 which enabled her to receive a musical education. She even performed as a child for King Louis XIV, who you may know as the SUN KING! Her compositions vary widely in instrumentation and style, she composed vocal pieces, sonatas for small ensemble, and even a ballet a...nd opera! While Elisabeth was one of a few well-known composers of her time, her name has been relatively lost in the canon of classical music recorded and programmed today, so we’re excited to share one of her many gems for a small ensemble of traverso flute, baroque violin, viola da gamba, and harpsichord! Stay tuned next Tuesday to hear this great work, and we’ll also be sharing some key resources on how to obtain information about local and upcoming elections. Thanks for your support!
