Operation Resilient Living & Innovation 03.02.2022

#Repost @pratt_ses with @make_repost Pratt Earth Action Week is fast approaching. Join us next week! KEY NOTES ON DISASTER PREPAREDNESS AND CLIMATE RESILIENCE series.... Reflecting on our community’s experiences and response during the most recent climate events, this semester #PEAW will center around keynote discussions to reckon with our current systems for disaster response and ideate on how we can collectively build better and more resilient frameworks for future climate events. The week’s programming will continue to address the intersecting crises of climate change, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the racial and social justice protests that have brought into relief systemic inequalities and unsustainable systems. Coordinated events throughout the week will provide an architecture for conversation, debate, and development of design solutions toward change with a focus on the relationship between climate change and mental health. Rather than a single keynote, we will be hosting a week-long symposium of key notes building on the Pratt community and our local communities’ experiences, institutional preparedness, the role of the artist and designer, and resources and ideation for improvements in response to recent and expected future climate events. For registration information, see linktree in bio!

#Repost @gnd_network with @make_repost As the Gulf South experiences Hurricane Ida on the 16th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, we must amplify the work and voices of organizations and communities on the frontlines. Please consider a donation to GCCLP] storm relief fund: bit.ly/StormReliefFund. From GCCLP] statement on Hurricane Ida: ... Hurricane Ida is yet another sobering reminder that the climate crisis is already upon us. The most recent IPCC report finally acknowledged what we have known for the last sixteen years: severe weather and devastating storms are a direct result of our changing climate. While all of us are impacted by these storms, for far too long we have continued to see that Black, Indigenous, immigrant, and poor folks are the most marginalized during preparation and recovery efforts. Our communities are on the frontlines of the climate crisis: we bear the brunt of flooding and disaster, we endure the harm of fossil fuel industries that have profited and caused this crisis, and we continue to see inequitable disaster recovery take place. In spite of these challenges, our communities are an incredible source of resistance, power, and strength. We are still here. #hurricaneida #climatejustice #mutualaid #solidarity #rapidresponse #stormrelief
