It’s been a while, this really sucks. Had an accident with the table saw over the weekend. Eight stitches and now missing a part of my thumb, is a reminder of how we need razor focus when working. We have a few office units to make out of walnut. An old faithful customer requested crotch walnut for door fronts. So, that’s what we did. Pulled out the vacuum press and made it happen. Crotch is the section of a tree where the branches break out from the trunk. Veeneers cut the right way are fantastic! The windows finally arrived for the facade. Love these black Andersen’s with the large SDL on the uppers. Of course, when we took out the old ones all the wood, i mean all the wood behind them was rotted(should’ve seen it coming). So a few days of rapid rebuilding and installing here they are. Eight new ones in. Today, we set the recoated panels in place. Had the original panels stripped and powder coated(what a job in itself). Now we design and install the trim. Painting up next. Less is better. Just like in cooking. Simple, quality ingredients done right make spectacular products. In process, white oak beam wraps(plain sliced, not that fancy rift cut) finished to look as blonde and natural as possible. Easier said than done. Step 1:bleach. Step 2:seal with a hint of white. Step 3: glaze and frost with the special sauce. Step 4,5 and 6: Topcoat. What do you think of the outcome?? Tomm we begin install. More to come.
