Anyone know where I can get a large, hard, plastic ball like this? Its a horse toy but our dogs love it and anywhere I see it for dogs its over $50. Have had it for almost 5 years and now has a big hole and won't roll like it did. I guess if a new one lasted 5 years, $10 a year isn't bad. But, just wondered if anyone else knows of any?

Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year! I will be contacting some of you to get your dates confirmed if you can? And, if you've already given me dates, but no deposit yet, you'll need to get that in too. Looking forward to a great camping season again this year! And nice weather!

HAPPY TRAILS TO YOU -- THE END OF AN ERA The young guns may not understand the meaning of this, but you will. The Roy Rogers Museum in Branson, MO has clo...sed its doors forever. The contents of the museum were sold at a public auction. Roy Rogers told his son, if the museum ever operates at a loss, close it, and sell the contents. He complied. Note the follow-on article truly the end of an era. Here is a partial listing of some of the items that were sold at auction: Roy's 1964 Bonneville (Pontiac) sold for $254,500. It was estimated to sell between 100 and 150 thousand dollars. His script book from the January 14,1953 episode of This Is Your Life sold for $10,000 (EST. $800-$1,000). A collection of signed baseballs (Pete Rose, Duke Snyder, and other greats) sold for $3,750. A collection of signed bats (Yogi Berra, Enos Slaughter, Bob Feller, and others) sold for $2,750. Trigger 's saddle and bridle sold for $386,500. One of many of Roy's shirts sold for $16,250 and one of his many cowboy hats sold for $17,500. One set of boot spurs sold for $10,625. (He never used a set of spurs on Trigger) His flight jacket sold for $7,500 His set of dinnerware plates and silverware sold for $11,875. The Bible they used at the dinner table every night sold for $8,750. One of several of his guitars sold for $27,500. Nellybelle (the Jeep) sold for $116,500. Bullet (stuffed) sold for $35,000 (EST. 10-15 K). He was their real pet. Dale's parade saddle, estimated to sell between 20-30 K, sold for $104,500. One of many pairs of Roy's boots sold for $21,250. Trigger (stuffed) sold for $266,500. Do you remember the 1938 movie The Adventures of Robinhood, With Errol Flynn and Olivia de Havilland? Well, Olivia rode Trigger in that movie. Trigger was bred on a farm co-owned by Bing Crosby. Roy bought Trigger on a time payment plan for $2,500. Roy and Trigger made 188 movies together. Trigger even outdid Bob Hope by winning an Oscar in the movie Son of Paleface in 1953. It is extremely sad to see this era lost forever. Despite the fact that Gene and Roy's movies, as well as those of other great characters, can be bought or rented for viewing, today's kids would rather spend their time playing video games. Today it takes a very special pair of parents to raise their kids with the right values and morals. These were the great heroes of our childhood, and they did teach us right from wrong, and how to have and show respect for each other and the animals that share this earth. You and I were born at the right time. We were able to grow up with these great people even if we never met them. In their own way they taught us patriotism and honor. We learned that lying and cheating were bad, and that sex wasn't as important as love. We learned how to suffer through disappointment and failure and work through it. Our lives were drug free. So it's good-bye to Roy and Dale, Gene and Hoppy (Hop-a-long Cassidy), the Lone Ranger and Tonto. Farewell to Sky King (and Penny)and Superman and (Dragnet) Sgt Friday. Thanks to Capt. Kangaroo, Mr. Rogers, and Capt. Noah and all those people whose lives touched ours, and made them better. Happy Trails... It was a great ride through childhood P.S. Don 't send this to anyone under 50.... they won't understand!

This made me laugh this morning. Not that it is funny when your planning on a ride or anything and a shoe is gone!

This for sure! I've always said, I will never tip toe around my horses. I do things as I normally would and let them get used to it. Always had foals so used to ropes swinging around them, being tied and get a foot over, step on a lead rope when tied to the halter or get a leg hooked around a rope. And let things fall in front of them. If they push the saddle off the hitching rail, I let it fall right in front of them. All the things that potentially could happen around a novice. Then as an adult horse, nothing freaks them out. :-)

As most of you know, we raise AKC boxers. We are looking to find a good retirement home for our current male stud Franco. He is from Champion imported bloodlines and a beautiful flashy fawn. He is great with all other dogs, housebroken, up to date on all vaccines and deworming, and has a wonderful loving temperament. I have had 2 couples look at him and just loved him but one family has small children and Franco is not a small dog and when he pushes up against you for some lo...ve, he does not understand how big and heavy he really is. He thinks he is a lap dog. The others had a disability with back issues, so again with Franco being his size and weight, they felt they could not handle him. And to add, he is not like this with us so much as he knows us and knows his limits. He just gets too happy to see new people he wants to be all over them for pets and hugs. :-) So, that being said, we are looking for a home where there are not any very small children (but by the way loves kids!) and a home with younger or stronger people who can handle his "big" personality. He really is like a big cat who rubs up against your leg for attention and is just looking for hugs and loving on. He does want to chase our barn cats but his former owner had cats and he was good. He came to us as a 2 year old and fit right into our family from the start. He will easily adjust to a new home and would love another dog for a playmate or at least have people around all day. We don't want him in a situation where he is alone without company as he was in that type of situation when we got him and he was depressed and had lost weight from not eating. So, hoping for someone who works from home or at least has other pets to keep him company when they are away. He was promised back to his original owner and the man passed away over a year ago so we are hoping to find him a home where someone will love him as much as his former "dad" did. He had a very hard time giving him up but knew Franco would be happier with us. Pics in comments. See more

Camping season pretty much coming to an end now. Hoping to do a few more improvements for next year too. Will post pics in spring as we add a few things. Glad to have met many new couples and enjoy their company. Sorry for missing out on some campfire visiting on busy nights, evenings I had this year. Things do go a bit more smoothly now though with not having all the boarders we used to have. Kind of nice just having a few horses to care for and chores are a breeze now. Still doing temp board for people yet this fall too and then hopefully some time off for Luke and I this winter. Maybe another small trip for a short vacation.

More improvements! Beautiful day for outside work!

Diamond and Stormy are officially on a diet. They just ate 4 bales in less than 24 hours. Now they're getting put on 1/3-1/2 bale each 2x a day for a while. They get hardly any grain. 1/2 cup 2x a day is all to get their supplements. I don't mind a little weight on them going into winter but they've a tendency to gain in winter too. Easy keepers!
