To celebrate Veteran's Day, we're thanking our residents who served in WWII! Eleanor Giovannone served as a Pharmacist Mate 2nd Class in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1945. Under the direction of a medical officer, she was assigned to various duties needed to support a Navy hospital during a war. While serving, Eleanor met and married Anthony, the love of her life who has since passed. Today is their 76th wedding anniversary!

In the days leading up to Veteran's Day, we're thanking our residents who served in WWII. Frank Lyons served as a Machinist Mate 1st Class in the Navy from 1941-1945. Frank is particularly proud to have been a member of a PT, or Patrol Torpedo, crew. PT boat duty was very dangerous, and the squadrons suffered an extremely high loss rate in the war.

We're sharing our gratitude for our residents who served in WWII this Veteran's Day! Julian Miana served as a Seaman 1st Class in the Navy. He is proud to have participated in The Murmansk Run, a voyage across the North Atlantic from Iceland to Russian ports that involved more hazards than in any other kind of naval duty. Severe weather was commonplace and floating mines, German submarines, surface craft, and warplanes were a constant danger.

For Veteran's Day, we're saluting WWII vet and resident Albert Tedeschi. Albert was in U.S. Marine Corp from 1942 to 1945 as Technical Sergeant. He enlisted at the age of 18 with his brother, who tragically did not survive the war. From 1943-1944 Albert served in the Central and Southwest Pacific Theaters, and participated in the Marshall Islands, Gilbert Islands and Mariana Islands Operations.

We're already in the Halloween spirit! Staff has already been donning their costumes, decorating our halls, and even putting together "boo boxes" for our rehab patients. Pictured here are therapy manager Jim Mielewski, occupational therapist Emily Steele, speech therapist Fatima Hassaneen, and director of dining services Heidi Melendez.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, we and the rest of the world have been thrown and adapted to many curve balls. It's been difficult to express just how much we appreciate our colleagues for rising to the challenges, so today we came together to show that we, and the rest of the St. Peter's Health Network, are #SPHPStrong!
