Lurking in the shadows there are many more unsung heroes. Since it's toofer Thursday I thought I would toast a few special members of my post production family.... The goal is always to build a team that keeps making the work better from start to finish, and these two fellas have been polishing my effort for years. I have been editing with Owen Lang (screen right) for over 15 years, and we have a short hand that is pretty specialand incredibly important. He has made my work funnier, made it fit, stretched it out and in some cases made not so great actors look brilliant. It is a process that takes incredible patience, and I appreciate Owen’s patience when it comes to my editorial OCD. Micah Kirz (screen left) has been putting the final spit shine on my footage for just as long. A magician when it comes to color grading. He has an innate ability to create looks that not only fit the story, but elevate it. He knows my playlist, he knows I love wings and he knows I hate magenta. There is no other guy I would rather have working the balls when it comes to color. Start the weekend early and raise your glasses to these two guys. #nonessential #essentialtome. See more

Color Grade Scott Burch @OutoftheblueNY "Mr. Tornado," premieres nationally on PBS May 19, 2020. The Super Outbreak of 1974 was the most intense tornado outbreak on record, tearing a vicious path of destruction across thirteen states, generating 148 tornadoes from Alabama to Ontario, damaging thousands of homes, and killing more than 300 people. Meteorologist Tetsuya Theodore Ted Fujita spent ten months studying the outbreak’s aftermath in the most extensive aerial tornado study ever conducted, and through detailed mapping and leaps of scientific imagination, made a series of meteorological breakthroughs.
