We are thrilled to announce that the NYS Conservation Partnership Program awarded us with a $40,000 grant on Friday! The funds will help us maintain and enhance... trails and access to our Humes Preserve. This property is in the heart of a corridor of 150 contiguous acres of protected land in the Beaver Brook watershed in Mill Neck. We are very grateful to be one of the 50 nonprofits across New York State that were awarded grants to protect open space. We would like to thank the state and local officials, the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation and the Land Trust Alliance, which administers this program in coordination with the DEC. HEAVY SNOW DEVELOPING OVER NASSAU COUNTY Heavy snow will develop over the area through 7pm. Snowfall rates of 1 to possibly 2 inches per hour are likely to d...evelop. Visibilities drop to a quarter of a mile or less at times. Travel will become very difficult. Poor visibility, snow covered and icy roads will be dangerous.
We are prepared for Wednesday's snow storm which is forecasted to bring 8 inches to a foot of snow. Our plows are fueled, trucks loaded with salt and sand, pump...s ready for potential flooding, and chainsaws/wood chippers positioned to combat downed tree limbs. Thank you to our Town of Oyster Bay workforce for their dedication to the job. See more
Legislator Joshua Lafazan Announces Holiday Drives to Collect Coats, Winter Wear and Toys for Deserving Children On Giving Tuesday (Tuesday, Dec. 1) Nassau Co...unty Legislator Joshua Lafazan (Woodbury) joined forces with local youth service organizations and the Woodbury Jewish Center to host coat, winter wear, and toy drives for deserving children and families during the holiday season. From 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. on weekdays through Tuesday, Dec. 15, donors can make contributions at the Woodbury Jewish Center, 200 South Woods Rd., Woodbury.
