Dear Working Mothers...wait, scratch that. Dear ALL Mothers of little ones, I get you!! You’ve had a rough start to the school year and to 2020 as a whole. Handwritten notes are where it’s at!! I can’t thank all my clients, friends and family enough: your notes, donations and gift cards (for those of you who purchased gift cards before any government relief was apparent)... they go beyond what you know. What a great reminder from a client, that so many of us women are in this... bizarre 2020 together. As September comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting on how many working working moms will have even more put on them with the new semi-home schooling responsibilities...and how different and stressful sick days for children have just become. You are all STRONG bosses of your lives and YOU DESERVE to be acknowledged. You deserve a hug and an amazing day at the salon. Even if you come less frequently, I’m here for you and you know you will have my undivided attention. See more

Well, that was fun! 4 Live Lessons in 4 Weeks Thank you to all who participated in my recent Exiting Quarantine/fundraiser live series! I hope you walked away feeling empowered to seek out growth and work towards becoming the best version of YOU. If you missed any of the sessions, they are available for you to watch as a replay. Here’s a recap of each session: Session 1 is about embracing your natural features (NOT resisting) and allowing your personality to shine through to define your style identity. It’s a great place to start! Session 2 is about making hair choices that are in harmony with your personal style, your facial features, and your natural texture. I explain how to put together the ideal Pinterest inspiration board to show your stylist. Session 3 has a focus on style and body shape. In this class, we get creative about conveying our personal style without losing the positive aspects of our shape. Session 4 is a color harmony chat with Kerry of @indigotones. Coming up tomorrow 8/12 at 12PM, we will be continuing Exiting Quarantine with a session on how style choices and body shape can work together to enhance your allover personal style. We will be placing an emphasis on ‘non-traditional’ figures, because let's face it, the "standards" are far from standard, and because of that our stylistic personal taste often doesn’t align with what fits or cuts are available in stores. In this class, we will get creative about conveying our personal style without losing the positive aspects of our shape. Recent work with some gorgeous natural curls... more specifically, gorgeous tight waves! @yajha_b found me through the @cutitkinky (@iamblackgirlcurls) network. She was looking for a curl specialist who could work with her curls for a shape up. After a thorough Detox treatment to break through any build up, we conditioned with @innersenseorganicbeauty Hydrating Masque, followed by Hydrating Conditioner. Then, we moved in to styling. Styling curly hair can be a challenge - al...l curls are different and respond differently to products. On her hair we layered -Uncle Funky’s Daughter (tacky, moisture retaining gel) -Innersense I Create Hold (soft, moisture retaining gel) -Innersense I Create Volume (Light, light weight setting lotion with a cast) By the end we had a great look but I didn’t think the external, mild cast layer was enough to set the outside of the curl for over 3 days. Next time, I’ll either use less Uncle Funky’s OR a heavier finishing gel with a firmer cast/finish (like Deva Ultragel). The big key to working with layers of gel this like? Small sections of hair with constant dribbles of water, water, water! Yajha’s hair pushes water away which means it also dries really fast when you’re trying to glide gel over top, making constant moisture super important. Thanks to this curly girl for entrusting me with her beautiful locks. #parloursalonroc #andreastyles
