We need you all the share this post!!! We are in a David versus Goliath situation. As large medical conglomerates are taking over more and more independent practitioner offices, patients are unaware how this is limiting access to care. Your doctor has lost the ability to refer you to "the best". They may now only refer you to the best in their system. We have felt this acutely here at Pathways. Our referral sources are shrinking. I was recently advised in confidence that re...ferring out of system could cost a person their job. Complete Decongestive Therapy for lymphedema has always begun with an intensive phase where the therapist provides massage and bandaging 5 days a week to maximize reduction prior to teaching patient's self care. Busy hospital centers now see many patients only 2x a week, basically supervising a program where the patient is self treating. At Pathways we still customize our program to the individual patient. We are here with you from evaluation through garment selection and measurement. We count on our patients and the greater lipedema/lymphedema community to help us reach those in need. Thank you. Raise awareness. I have been doing lymphatic therapy for 10 years now but just got thrown another curve ball. Anyone with Lymphedema should be aware that compression is contraindicated if you are taking Doxil. We are presently trying to bring some relief to a patient with this dilemma. So far we have been able to reduce the edema without skin complications. I take great pride in our individualized approach to each and every patient.
