Peanuts at St. Gregory's

We are opening our new school tomorrow- Peanuts at St. Gregory’s! It’s time to stop and smell the roses as they say. We would like to share our story for all that don’t know it. Due to Covid-19, we had to make the tough decision to close Peanuts Inc. after 24 years in Farmingdale. After our announcement, the outpouring of support from the community and our Peanuts families was overwhelming. One family in particular, The Michals Family, was very persistent and determined to ...help us stay in business. They pushed us to keep faith and not give up. Mr. Michals set up the GoFundMe and worked diligently to help us find another possible location for our school. As luck would have it, we happened upon St. Gregory’s in Seaford. We met Father Andrew and that was the beginning of our new venture! We want to thank all of you who believed in us and made it possible to continue Peanuts at St. Gregory’s in an even better location. We have spent the last month getting our new school ready and tomorrow we will be opening our doors! We cannot do that without thanking our Peanuts families, our friends who were there for us in so many ways, our staff who are just amazing, and our families who have spent every available minute with us to make this all happen! We are forever grateful to all of you for the unbelievable love and support! We could not have done it without you and we are so excited to start the new school year! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!!

Our Peanuts have been hard at work coloring, cutting, gluing and dot markering to create these awesome Thanksgiving crafts! This year we are extra thankful to have opened Peanuts at St. Gregory’s in our new location and for our new and returning Peanuts families and teachers. This has been a difficult year for everyone but don’t forgot to take some time to remember all there is to be thankful for. Wishing everyone a happy and healthy Thanksgiving!

We are also so excited about our HUGE fenced in backyard full of swings, toy cars, bikes, slides, seesaws, balls, jungle gyms, and toy roller coasters! To Our Peanuts Community, We are overwhelmed and humbled by the outpouring of support from the community after announcing Peanuts is closing its doors. The last 24 hours have been a whirlwind of emotions . With the love and support from the Peanuts community, along with the help and persistence of an incredibly altruistic Peanuts’ father, Rich Michals, there... is still a hope that Peanuts may reopen. We have one year left on our lease in our current building. We are currently exploring the potential of moving into another local building for the future of Peanuts. We want more than anything to be able to remain open for our little Peanuts and their families. Mr Michals started a GoFundMe page back in June to help raise funds to keep the doors open and get our staff and children back in the classroom. We were reluctant to make it public knowing everyone is struggling during the pandemic. The support from the community has given us the will to keep fighting for the school that we spent 30 years building in hopes that we can service our community for another 30 years to come. This decision was not made lightly and we are heartbroken over it. We have tried and have exhausted ...every possible option over these last few months. We apologize for not letting you know sooner, but we gave it a good fight until the very end. It breaks our hearts that this is the end. We looked forward to continuing Peanuts for years to come and one day having our own grandchildren attend. Peanuts has become a Farmingdale icon over the years. Friendships have been made and forged here for students and families alike. We appreciate and thank each one of our staff members for always putting the children 1st through the years and for making it a pleasure to come to work each day. We are sincerely sorry for what this means to our enrolled families for September. This was not something we ever thought would be our demise. Peanuts Inc. has operated since 1991 and serviced over 3,000 children during our 30 years. Our staff through these years has become a family, as have all of you.
