ATTENTION: The City is happy to report the organizers of the proposed unpermitted Stop the Violence Rally and music event slated for Depew Park on Sunday, Septe...mber 13 have decided to hold a virtual event for live-stream instead. There will be no music event in Depew Park this Sunday. Those interested in the event may access the event online, including presentations related to youth safety, gun violence, and various artistic presentations. The City has no role in the program. Current public health rules during the pandemic unfortunately prevent the City from permitting large gatherings on public property, and various popular events and parades have not taken place in 2020. People interested in organizing events should always check with the City and with current NYS public health guidance as a first step in the planning process. The City recognizes the importance of social and cultural events and will seek to support them whenever possible. To repeat, there are no permits issued for any large music event in Depew Park this Sunday, or any other public property on any date in 2020, and no large music or entertainment events, however well-intended, can be permitted at this time. SPECIAL NOTICE After lengthy discussion of the ever-changing CDC, New York State and Westchester County restrictions, guidelines and recommendations, we have reached the very difficult decision to cancel our 2020 regularly scheduled summer programming. Although it’s hard to imagine a summer without camps, pool, etc., nothing is more important to us than the health, safety and welfare of our children, our residents, staff and the partners with whom we work. Current and reasona...bly anticipated social distancing requirements for the summer would be impossible to enforce with our normal program settings. We do not make this decision lightly but feel that it would be shortsighted and irresponsible to risk further increase of the public health hazard that we are already facing. We are grateful for your support and understanding as we navigate the challenges caused by the Coronavirus Pandemic. We are disappointed as a department to cancel these programs, but we will be working within the structure of the four-phased state reopening guidelines to hopefully provide some weekly activities for your children.
