Here we go! Last couple of weeks of 2020! Let’s keep up the momentum and keep on pushing! I’m not a huge fan of New Year’s resolutions but am am a fan of stepping back and redirecting myself when I get off track. Instead of waiting until 2021 let’s take a few minutes and look at where we are ! Make a plan and write it down!!... it’s much easier to be accountable with a friend or coach! It’s a lot harder to fall off track if someone else is depending on you! Make your plan doable - for example - drink lots of water , get to gym or workout at least 4-5 times a week, eat veggies with every day. We can track that effort and that effort will lead to results!!!! It’s alway fun to work on what we like or are good at, but that is only going to get us better at what we are good at and leaves what we NEED to work on a weakness. I love this post from @whiteboard_daily because it is true in the gym AND in life. We get better by working on what we aren’t good at, on the gym it may be mobility and deadlifting () and at home it may be balance and patience (). Let’s talk about lifting in CrossFit- I for one hate the term 1 rep max, and here is why .... not everyday do you have it in you- are you tired, did you sleep enough, are you sore, stressed, etc. when those 3 words are spoken it seems to give people permission to lift ugly ugly lifts are generally not repeatable ... So what if we remove the term 1 rep max from our vocabulary and start thinking repeatable - technique - form - range of motion - and safe. So by building to a heavy for the day takes off the pressure to beat your previous number, allows you to lift pretty and technical not with your ego. @sarahelizabeth0292 is shown in this video hitting a snatch pr - several weeks prior I watched her hit 5 pounds less than this lift which was also a pr, but definitely not as pretty. Since then Sarah has worked on technique work and made her heavier lifts repeatable . Quick review- Sarah listened to her coaches, was coachable, put in the work, and was consistent with practice ....
