Maureen has been with Penrose Dermatology since the day we opened and is the first person every patient meets in the office. We could not run the office without her! Happy 50th Birthday Maureen!! You look fabulous!! #penrosedermatology
Cheers to 2020! The holidays are over and we are ready for the new year! Regular hours at Penrose Dermatology are back after spending much needed holiday time with our families. Hoping you all had a joyous and peaceful holiday and we wish you a Happy New Year!! #penrosedermatology
Today we pause and reflect on this tragic day and remember all the souls we lost 18 years ago. #neverforget
Finally got our crew at Penrose Dermatology together and enjoyed a delicious dinner at Barca! Love this group!! And congratulations again to Linda for passing her nursing boards. We will greatly miss her but know she is going to be an amazing nurse!! #penrosedermatology
Interesting research being done on the microbiome from our skin and its relation to acne. Maybe we can finally find an alternative to accutane with the same results or better! https://source.wustl.edu//medication-for-severe-acne-alte/
Update: phones working well now! Per Spectrum there is a phone outage in our area and service will soon be restored. Please email the office at [email protected] to contact us. We apologize for any inconvenience!
We are learning more and more about how food affects our skin. Research has shown the ill effects of skim milk on acne and I have seen dairy free diets having a positive effect on atopic dermatitis. Many board certified dermatologists are researching this area and have written books about diet and skin health. It’s a fascinating topic. http://www.thisisinsider.com/can-cutting-out-dairy-clear-yo
Get that bug spray out... Lately I have seeing many patients with insect bites. Also I had about 10 mosquito bites on my ankles from sitting outside one night without insect repellent! DEET is important but Picaridin works just as well. Get a spray that contains one of these ingredients for your next outdoor activity so you can enjoy your summer itch free!
Patients always ask why I check everywhere during a skin check because we CAN get melanoma on skin that has never seen the sun! This is a great article addressing this concept and a nice review of the ABCDEs of skin cancer. #melanomaawareness #sunsafety
May is melanoma awareness month! Today, May 7, is melanoma Monday. Remember to get your skin checked if you have not done so in a while and to keep your skin protected from the sun! 4 years ago I had a thin melanoma (melanoma in situ) excised from my face. The scar is not as noticeable but always a reminder to me of the damage I did to my skin as a teenager. It’s no joke keep your skin safe. And yes, even a dermatologist can get melanoma! #melanomaawareness #melanomamonday #penrosedermatology
