#repost @ontheroaddesigners Right after NYFW, I thought to myself, I’ve spent all this money, effort and time on fashion week, how do I ride the momentum? I don’t have a PR, and I have no clue how to get an interview with magazine or TV. It’s the common challenge of the creative, we just want to stay in our studio and shy away from hustling. Also we don’t have the budget for a good PR. But if you don’t have exposure, who even know about your amazing work? It seems all the... media attention are focused on the established designers. Then it dawned on me, why don’t I start my own podcast for emerging female designers? I talked to Jackie, a fellow designer I met at NYFW, who share the same dilemma as me and we both decided to do it right away. Have you ever felt you are alone on the road? As an emerging designer and founder, the uncertainty and financial risk we face everyday sometimes seems unbearable. Going through the up and downs of starting your own brand, you wonder is there light at the end of the tunnel? And Yes! Just keep walking a few more steps. Also, do you know out of $85 billion VC funding in 2018, only 2.2% went to female founders in 2018? We started this podcast, On the Road Designers, to empower female designers/founders. We strive to serve as a beacon of light, to shine your path, to show you the directions. We are creating a community for us to share our story, to share resources, to find support and mentorship.
