Will start to repost some of my favorite photographs form #burningman from over the years. This is of @laurakimpton and @jeffschomberg #believe installation. There is a special story behind most photos I have taken at @burningman This particular one I was at the trash fence staring at the sunrise thinking of my father who had passed away. Enjoying the sadness. As the sun was beginning to rise I began a form of direct conversation with the rising sun. At some point in... that conversation i has moved beyond my sadness and started thinking about my own future. My future as a person, as a photographer, my future in life. I remember saying that I would really love to take some photos that meant something. That has a message that would bring smiles to peoples faces. At that moment I realized the sun had gone behind clouds. But had started to break through. As if answering me directly the sun rays seemed to reach out to me during my movements of questioning the future. I decided to hop in my bike and see where the Sunday’s felt like they landed. Like trying to find the end of a rainbow I biked until I arrived at the location where the Sunday’s felt most intense. It’s an interesting and not so subtle message I had seemed to arrive at. Since then I have always followed my intuition and heart to find the messages hidden in the visual landscape on the playa. And images with messages would arise from the dust as if by magic or purpose. See more
