Phoenicia Playhouse

We're getting a front porch! Thanks to all of those who are working so tirelessly to make this happen! Get out of the house and take a stroll to the Playhouse to check out our progress. And yes, we saved the Box Office and the hanging sign!

It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved board member, Barry Kerr. Barry was an active member of the Phoenicia Playhouse and the spark for many successful outreach programs for the Playhouse, like the building fund drive where Barry painstakingly researched the history of the Shandaken Theatrical Society so that we could present our storied past to newcomers in the community. The list of initiatives Mr. Kerr conceived and saw through to fruition a...re numerous. Of particular note are the Phoenicia Youth Theater which he held near and dear, as well as the first Phoenicia Magic Festival which Barry not only helped produce, but also managed through his illness. He was a rare breed who said what he meant and did what he said he would do. He delivered all that he was asked and always gave more than he promised. Our board owes a debt to Barry for all his hard work in the name of the community. We will miss him. In honor of his contributions, we will be creating the Barry Kerr Memorial Box Office.
