The chicks are here! Kindergarten teacher Lindsay Brooks had many eggs in the incubator at her Circleville Elementary classroom. She and her students watched and learned about the development of the chicks. As the chicks hatched, she invited her virtual students to see them in person! She organized the families to come after school at staggered times with social distancing and meet the chicks. The students were so excited to be there and see the chicks. Mrs. Brooks enjoyed it too! She loved seeing her remote students in person and she was happy to see their interactions with each other and the chicks!

This dedicated teacher just won $500 in Scholastic books in the James Patterson Scholastic Book Club contest. Taking the PSAT exam Saturday, Oct. 17? Here is some important information you need to know. If your child is registered for the upcoming PSAT Exam tomorrow Saturday, October 17th here at PBHS, I am calling and posting to provide you with some further information to prepare for that day! Your child will be required to report to the building no later than 7:15 AM tomorrow 10/17/20 and will be required to wear an appropriate cloth face mask covering in order to be allowed entry... into the building. Your child will additionally be screened prior to entry into the building. They will need to scan the digital QR Code on their smartphone device, posted at the outside main entrance door. The QR code will automatically take them to the health questionnaire survey, which has 5 screening questions, and as long as your child is able to accurately/honestly answer NO to all 5 questions they will be allowed into the building. If your child does not have a smartphone device, we will have paper copies of the health screening survey on hand. There will be 2 tents set up outside the PBHS Main Entrance for screening to take place. Once in the building, they will also have their temperature taken at the greeter desk with a contactless thermometer. As long as their current temperature is below 100 degrees they will be directed to their assigned testing location. All testing locations within the building will be socially distanced with desks 6 feet apart. No more than 10 - 12 students will be allowed in the classroom testing locations and no more than 48 students will be allowed in the larger testing areas such as the cafeteria, new gym, and library. This is adhering to all NYSED and Orange County Health Department guidance. Please also be aware that the district will NOT be providing any supplies for the exam this year aside from the traditional exam booklet. Your child must come ready with their own calculator, pens and pencils. None will be provided by the district. Absolutely no eating or drinking will be allowed for the duration of the exam, unless specified during short break times. Please ensure your child has a full hearty breakfast that morning! The test will start promptly at 8:00am. Thank you and see you tomorrow, Saturday, October 17th!

Sixth-grade students in Stacie Blaut’s science class at CVMS, both virtual and in person, recently took on the tower challenge. Their goal: construct a 12-inch free-standing tower using the least amount of index cards in order to hold a stuffed animal for 20 seconds. The students used a variety of different methods for construction curved base, wide base, rectangular structures and multiple were successful. A fun and interesting way to explore the scientific method.
