On a very rainy Thursday, October 29, 2020 here in the red zone, over 800 people in masks were given boxes of food by our dedicated and selfless core of volunteers. Due to the storm, we began our distribution ahead of schedule and later at night we able to distribute another 100 boxes to people who stopped by because they could not make it during the day. The remaining boxes were distributed yesterday. More people kept on coming even after we finished We learned from this e...vent that there is such a dire need for food in Brooklyn that people will stand and wait in the driving rain and cold for supplies. We were also reminded at how blessed we are to have such loyal and caring volunteers and supporters! PIN is delivering 1100 Food Boxes today. Please if you are available from 2-4pm today we need volunteers to help organize the food (bring rain gear and warm clothes) please comment below if u are available. Thank you!

This afternoon we are giving 1100 food boxes to families in need. The work started early, our amazing volunteers are already here (rain or shine!), and we are also preparing face masks and gloves for everyone who will come. Please remember to come from 4.30pm-5.30pm today (Oct 29) at PIN - 944 Newkirk Ave 11230 Brooklyn.

Thank you Dylan Zajac and Ronan Schneider from Computer People 4 U for donating and installing six computers for the People In Need's Women's Center. These computers will be an integral part of our women‘s empowerment program through which we will be helping immigrant women to gain a basic knowledge of the computer and internet navigation which will enable them to find help and resources during the COVID19 crisis and to adjust to life in America. It is difficult to put in words how grateful we are for Dylan and Ronan's generosity and for the support of all our volunteers and donors!

True success is when you are able to make someone’s life better! A wonderful donor gave us a Samsung phone. We then purchased a new case and a prepaid time plan and gave it all to a mom who is nine months pregnant and raising a four year old and an eight year old, to help her stay connected. We were also able to give her a gift card and a cash stipend. Our next step is to help her open a bank account so she can apply for assistance from various mutual aid groups in case of ...an emergency. As the pandemic continues, People In Need is hoping to raise funds to augment our grocery deliveries with special projects such as this that helps individuals in dire need of support.
