Catch us out Far Rock on Beach 67th this Saturday, April 17th from 10AM to 2PM with @bennys.club & @larubeyasurfing ! RSVPs are completely capped, but ya know...issa public beach . This will be a day of good company, ecology, and music by @playgroundradio / and resident DJ Yung Bugarron @sterlingjuandiaz on the sand. . We’ll be enforcing social-distancing and covid-safe protocol. Masks are required (there will be PPE on-site).... . Starting at 9:30 AM Playground will be providing coffee and music. After, we will begin cleaning the beach and its surrounding areas from 10-11 AM. Around 11 AM, scientists from NYC Parks and Surfrider Foundation NYC will be on hand to tell us a little about the rich ecology and human history of the Rockaways. . Afterwards, we will be hanging out and enjoying the beach with some music for the rest of the afternoon. We’ve gone from groundwork to being featured in @time - In order to further inform you about our fundraising we want to spread our message to you all about our history/purpose! . Playground Coffee Shop was founded by Zenat Begum in 2016 as a coffee shop and community space in Bed-Stuy. The space was previously Ze...nat’s family business that operated as a hardware store for 20 years. It is troubling waters to exist as a coffee shop in 2020 Brooklyn, but as many of us know we are not just a coffee shop. . ....We will never be (like how many businesses have postured themselves to be) a coffee shop that is extracting resources to further do the evil work of gentrification. We want to be a resource to our community in order to sustain what is still here as a long lineage of a fiercely strong intergenerational network - help us promote change, challenge ourselves, grow, and even fail - donate to our GoFundMe to continue to see what we can do together .
