Dear Pleasantville Families, Tremendous thanks to you, and the entire Pleasantville community, for your support and patience as we navigate the challenges associated with COVID 19. Your adherence to the safety protocols and the guidance from the Westchester County Department of Health enables us to keep our students engaged in our hybrid model. Please see the latest Update from the Westchester County Department of Health (https://drive.google.com//1qTVGShGwj_-lv0U47Rg-XPC...PnQ/view) that addresses the new CDC Guidance, Winter Sports, Contact Tracing and County's Role. A big thank you to our families, parent organizations, staff and students for the terrific Halloween celebrations that have taken place in our schools yesterday and today. If you are planning any neighborhood-based Halloween celebrations, you may find this CDC communication very helpful (https://www.cdc.gov//daily-life-co/holidays/halloween.html). Just a gentle reminder next Tuesday, November 3 is Election Day. We encourage everyone to VOTE. Schools will be closed for instruction that day to allow for staff participation in professional learning activities. As part of our ongoing diversity, equity and inclusivity work, the Anti-Defamation League will lead a number of important PD sessions for our instructional staff. Again, thank you for your support and cooperation. Wishing everyone an enjoyable weekend. Happy Halloween. Best, MFA

Dear Community Member, The Board of Education would like to invite you to view our latest edition of Inside Pleasantville Schools: A Conversation with Our Parent Leaders." https://youtu.be/yWnb55hIJHc... In this episode, we hear from our PTA, PCO and SEPTA leaders. Our students' educational world is enhanced, in so many ways, due to the volunteer efforts of our parent groups. From extra resources for the classroom, guest speakers, the edible garden, special events and so much more - these parent groups work closely with the principals to creatively enrich the experiences for our children. Enjoy previous episodes of "Inside Pleasantville Schools" here (https://www.pctv76.org/series/88/)! We hope you enjoy our newest concept of communication. While our website is full of information regarding Arts, Athletics and Academics, this new communication program, hosted by PCTV, will highlight various topics of interest that come up during the year which may not be covered by principal, guidance or parent organization communications. Sincerely, Larry Boes, President Emily Rubin Persons, Vice President Jill Grossman Shane McGaffey Angela Vella

Dear Pleasantville Families, In an effort to keep our school community informed as we continue to navigate COVID-19 and our school year together, please allow me to share some important updates. I know many of you are aware of the rise in the local and regional infection rate. In this environment, the importance of our health and safety protocols cannot be understated. The Westchester County Department of Health (DoH) continues to message the need to maintain social distance...Continue reading

October 19-23 is School Board Recognition Week in NYS. At the October 22 BOE meeting, our parent groups (BRS & MS PTAs, PHS PCO, SEPTA) and administrators thanked the members of the Board of Education for their service and gave them small gifts of appreciation. The parent groups also sent out an email message in honor of the occasion that said, in part: "Pleasantville's five Board of Education members are elected to a three-year term by district residents and receive no compe...nsation. They are ordinary citizens who generously volunteer their time and energy to improve the education offered to students in Pleasantville while also balancing the cost to taxpayers. "Their tasks are substantial. They work together to establish a vision for the education program, design a structure to achieve that vision, craft policies, listen to student and staff concerns, assure schools are accountable to the community, serve on committees, and strongly advocate for continuous improvement in student learning."
Dear Community Member - The Trustees of the Pleasantville Board of Education would like to thank the community for its great input and collaboration with the district during this most unusual last seven months. We attempted to create a flexible meeting protocol during this time as the public has adjusted their participation as well. Since we anticipate doing most meetings by webinar in the near future we continue to refine our meetings and the contribution of public comment ...as well. To that end we ask you to follow the below protocols if participating in a regular board meeting. If you would like to speak to the Board, select the 'Raise Hand' feature at the bottom of the screen and keep it raised until we open for public comment during that portion of the meeting. Once you hear your name called, the Board will allow you to speak. Zoom will refresh your screen and you will then be able to speak and turn on your video. Click the 'start video' button and unmute your microphone at the bottom of the screen. State your name and address for the record and address the Board with your comment. Keep your comment to 5 minutes or less; if you have a further comment you may return after all other comments have been heard. Even though we have been flexible on this point recently, we are asking that you be a school district resident to address the Board. Any further comments not addressed publicly, or follow up comments, may be sent to any of our Board email addresses or the Board email address: [email protected]. We will not be taking any comments from the Q & A area of the webinar going forward. The Board reserves the right to change its protocols during the course of a meeting for various reasons but above should be the general protocol going forward. We look forward to your meeting contributions in the future. Thank you.
