Suffolk County officials are encouraging residents to register for the Smart911 program in an effort to assist first responders with COVID-19 awareness. The fre...e service provides operators valuable information that will be displayed on a 911 operator’s screen when an emergency call is placed saving valuable time in collecting information. Individuals can create a Smart911 profile at www.smart911.com or on the Smart911 App and include medical information for those who may be at higher risk of developing COVID-19. By signing up for Smart911, individuals can help first responders obtain key information needed about every person who may need assistance, not only during this outbreak, but during any emergency. Additionally, residents are encouraged to sign up for SMS text messages through their mobile devices to receive updates and other developments relating to COVID-19. To sign up, text COVIDSUFFOLK to 67283.

It's interesting to see how this ONE week when so many lives have been changed; suddenly we have more time to do things that we usually are too busy to stop and think about! All the while many people are experiencing many different emotions. Art, poetry, and the such are good outlets for such a time: I would like to encourage our neighbors to SHARE some creativeness that this time has inspired them to CREATE. But in respectful ways, not to criticize or be rude. Please share yours or your children's creations. And May HOPE arise in every mind and heart during these unprecedented times.

May 4th is "Earth Day Clean-up." Would you join PLECO as a community effort to clean up our lake area and around our homes? We supply everything (bug spray, pic...kers, bags and gloves). We will meet at the clubhouse by 9am for breakfast. Then we form groups to hit certain areas. You don't have to be a member of PLECO to join this effort. Please RSVP to [email protected]. Last year we had two people who cleaned up Forge Rd from Rt 25 along Dam Rd around the lake to South River Rd. It took almost 3 hours. Too often our lake area is traveled and trashed. Lets show them we care about our community!
