Congratulations Jess on 20 years with PMG! The year 2000 represented not only the dawning of a new century, but also the dawning of a new era for PMG it was the year Jessica L. Rubano joined the ranks of PMG fresh out of Dartmouth College, beginning her career learning the ins and outs of the business of strategic marketing as a Production Assistant. She learned them wellperhaps too well and too fast, as Jess switched sides and transitioned to be an Account Executive. ... Jamie Stanco, PMG Founder and President commented, She was a quick study then and has gotten even quicker through the years. In Jess, hands-on experience has combined with great instincts and a determination to get the job done, not just on time and on budget, but with a professionalism and thoroughness that is above and beyond the standard of the industry. Just ask her clients and they will attest to this fact. We are extremely proud of the journey she has taken, and extremely fortunate that she has taken it with PMG. Kudos to you Jess, on surviving PMG for 20 years! We know we wouldn’t have it any other way!

Why is October Fire Prevention Month? Back in 1922, the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) established Fire Prevention Week in October in commemoration of the Great Chicago Fire of 1871 that began on October 8. A helpful tip never assume someone else has already called the fire department. Always have your local department phone number handy and/or call 911 in a fire emergency.... October 16 is National Boss’ Day, and it also happens to be National Dictionary Day. So, in honor of Jamie Stanco, our boss and the founder of PMG (...and our resident logophile), here are some of his favorite words and their definitions so you don’t need to look them up in the dictionary... extant - in existence; not destroyed or lost... penultimate - next to the last bloviate - to speak pompously propitiate - to make favorably inclined; appease prevaricate - to speak falsely or misleadingly; deliberately misstate or create an incorrect impression mellifluous - sweetly or smoothly flowing; sweet-sounding inimical - adverse in tendency or effect; unfavorable loquacious - talking or tending to talk much or freely; talkative ephemeral - lasting a very short time; short-lived apocryphal - of doubtful authorship or authenticity See more

Make your voice heard in the 2020 elections. Your vote is your voice on issues affecting housing, education, employment, healthcare and more. Voting is your chance to stand up for the issues you care about that effect your life and the lives of future generations. Today most American citizens over the age of 18 are entitled to vote in federal and state elections, but voting was not always a default right for all Americans. It was not until the 15th Amendment in 1869 that bl...ack men were allowed to vote. But even so, many would-be voters faced hurdles like poll taxes and literacy tests meant to discourage them from voting. This would continue until the 24th Amendment in 1964 which eliminated the poll tax, and the Voting Rights Act of 1965 which ended Jim Crow laws. Women were denied the right to vote until 1920 when the 19th Amendment was passed. In 1971 the voting age was lowered to 18. With these constitutional amendments and legislation, widespread voting rights have evolved from the Founding Fathers’ era. No matter what you believe or who you support, it is important to exercise your right to vote. The first step is registering to vote. In New York State, the deadline for most mail-in and in-person voter registration is October 9, 2020 to be eligible to vote in the General Election. Check with your local Board of Elections for more details and options for voting in the November 3 General Election.

For the third year in a row, PMG’s Creative Director, A.J. Schmitz, was selected to judge the prestigious E Source 2020 Utility Ad Awards Contest, the energy industry’s largest and most comprehensive competition. The contest evaluates creative excellence in the advertising of electric, gas and water utility companies that have generated results such as increasing brand awareness, website traffic or program participation. With over 700 ad submissions from over 50 utilities th...is year, A.J. Schmitz commented, This was no easy task to judge, as there were so many quality submissions. It required careful evaluation of the branding, call to action and the overall look, feel and messaging of each campaign. On behalf of everyone at PMG, congratulations to all the winners! The creativity within these campaigns was quite impressive, so take a look here for the first and second place winners in each category:

September 30 is National Podcast Day! Did you know that the word ‘podcast' is derived from the words ‘iPod' and ‘broadcast' because most people were using the Apple iPod to listen to podcasts when the term was coined in 2004? Today, over 850,000 active podcasts are streamed using platforms such as Apple Podcasts (formerly iTunes), Google Podcasts and Spotify. At PMG, we have leveraged podcasts as a marketing tool for a number of clients across many industries, with both B2B and B2C audiences. Podcasts can effectively educate audiences on services and products, while communicating company philosophy and culture. The audio can also be repurposed and posted on websites, social media and sent via email. Want to learn more about how to use podcasts as a marketing tool? Drop us a line, we’d be happy to chat.

National New York Day And Don’t You Fugeddaboutit! There are milestones that last a moment and others that last forever. September 21 is a milestone for New YorkNational New York Dayand the iconic New York logo, slogan and song, 'I LOVE NY', may live forever. I LOVE NY - From Montauk to Buffalo and Everything In Between... I LOVE NY became the theme of a resurgent New York in an advertising campaign to promote tourism in 1977. Graphic designer Milton Glaser drew the design in the backseat of a yellow taxiin crayon. You can see the original at the Museum of Modern Art. King of The Jingle, Steve Karmen, composed the I LOVE New York theme song. In 1980, the song was declared the unofficial New York State anthem. Little could Glaser, Karmen or the ad agency Wells, Rich & Greene predict the lasting effect their work would have on New York, or how it would be mimicked, copied, adopted, adapted, used and reused all over the world. It has become a pop culture icon. To put I LOVE NY in New York lingo, no one can fugeddaboutit! Cheers to New York!

Today is officially National Ampersand Day, so let’s celebrate and pay tribute to this funny little symbol! And as the official National Ampersand logo says, fabulous & functional & fun! First a little history lesson. The symbol & comes from the Latin word for and which was et. In Old Roman cursive, it became common to combine e’s and t’s, which eventually morphed into today’s common symbol &. The ampersand used to appear as a letter at the end of the english alphab...et. When the English alphabet was spoken, per se commonly preceded any letter of the alphabet that could be used as a word by itself, such as A and I. For the letter/word I", for example, the phrase was "I per se I", which means I by itself is the word I. Thus & per say and became ampersand. We often see &" in daily communications, but when should we use & instead of and? Use & when it is part of a company’s formal name - such as AT&T or Ben & Jerry’s. Use & for common abbreviations - such as B&B or R&B. Use & in writing when space is limited - such as in PowerPoint presentations, booth graphics or in logo designs. Use &, if you prefer, in informal communications - such as tweets or texts - but avoid it in formal writing. To celebrate the day, check out this website that is dedicated to all things ampersand - https://amperart.com/gallery/.

Dedicated to promoting substance abuse prevention, Levittown Community Action Coalition (LCAC) is committed to addressing the issues associated with heroin, opiates and prescription drug misuse among youth in the Levittown and Island Trees communities. As the coalition has grown in advancing its mission and providing education and resources, it was important to elevate the brand to run parallel with the expansion of its commitment to the community. PMG was eager to help in c...reating a more modern approach to the identity, while continuing to include the three distinct features of the logo: People and families coming together in unity The iconic Levittown homes, symbolizing the authenticity and uniqueness of the community The LCAC acronym to accompany the full name of the organization As the concept of the original logo was recognizable to the people living within Levittown, PMG embarked on a refresh of the logo rather than a full redesign. Staying within a 2-color design and contemporary type treatment, the LCAC identity took shape to where it is today. To learn more about LCAC and the resources the coalition provides, visit www.lcacoalition.org. LCAC is expanding and has the full support and involvement of the community, school districts, families and parents all working together to support a substance-free environment for Levittown youth.
