LEGAL NOTICE SPECIAL ELECTION OF POLAND JOINT FIRE DISTRICT NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a Special Election of the resident electors of the Poland Joint Fire District will take place on Tuesday January 26, 2021 between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. at the Poland Joint Fire District Fire Station 1 located at 216 New York State Route 8 Cold Brook, New York 13324 for the purposes of voting on Proposition 1, a proposition to approve the... Resolution of the Board of Fire Commissioners adopted on December 15, 2020 authorizing the issuance of bonds of the Fire District and an expenditure of funds from the capital reserve fund for apparatus for the acquisition of a new custom pumper fire apparatus. Proposition 1 reads substantially as follows: PROPOSITION 1 Shall the Bond Resolution adopted by the Board of Fire Commissioners of the Poland Joint Fire District in the Counties of Herkimer and Oneida, State of New York on December 15, 2020 for the objects and purposes of authorizing the acquisition and purchase of a new Custom Pumper, including incidental equipment and expenses in connection therewith at a maximum estimated cost of $386,872; authorizing the issuance of serial bonds of the Fire District in an amount not to exceed $300,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary to pay the cost thereof at the prevailing rate of interest on the date of the bond closing after deducting any federal, state, county, and/or local funds received; authorizing the expenditure of an amount not to exceed $150,000 from the Fire District’s Capital Reserve Account for Apparatus; pledging the faith and credit of the Fire District for the payment of the principal and interest on said bonds; authorizing the annual levy on all taxable real property of the Fire District, a tax sufficient to pay the principal interest on said bonds as the same become due and payable; determining that the period of probable usefulness of the Custom Pumper is twenty (20) years and the maximum maturity of the serial bonds therefor is to be ten (10) years; delegating to the Fire District Treasurer the power to authorize and sell bond anticipation notes and to fix the details of and to sell the serial bonds; containing an estoppel clause and providing for publication of an estoppel notice; be approved? Only those persons who are residents of the Poland Joint Fire District on or before December 28, 2020 and who are registered to vote with the respective Herkimer or Oneida County Boards of Elections on or before January 4, 2021 shall be eligible to vote in this election.
