Lying in the sand outside the National Museum of Qatar, the Adventure Dhow playscape invites children to explore and play within the remains of the ship. To add to the storytelling of the piece, our fabrication and carpentry teams worked together to ensure every detail of the playscape honoured Qatari culture and history. All fit-out items found throughout the playscape can also be seen within the Museum’s collections. @nmoqatar @tcl_studio Visiting one of our projects? Behind the scenes during the making of the National Museum of Qatar’s Adventure Dhow playscape. This work was designed by landscape architects TCL to resemble the ‘shipwreck’ of the legendary sailor Erhama bin Jaber’s ship the ‘Gatrosha’. Made from steel and 4000 linear meters of timber this work is an exact replica of the original ship, measuring a massive 30 meters. @nmoqatar @tcl_studio Keep up to date with our projects by following @uapcompany #uap #madebyuap #uapcompany #incrediblethings #NationalMuseumofQatar #tclstudio #NMoQ #playscape #Qatar #dhowplayground #design #fabrication

Don’t forget to look up! The layered fluorescent colors of yellow, orange, pink, green and blue of Nike Savvas’ ‘A Lifetime of Summers’ simulates confetti falling from the ceiling. The oscillating rectangular tabs create a soft kinetic field of colour celebrating our nostalgia for the endless Australian summer.@lendlease Keep up to date with our projects by following @uapcompany #uap #madebyuap #uapcompany #incrediblethings #NikeSavvas #TheExchange #DarlingSquare #Sydney #ALifeTimeofSummers #art #publicart #artist #installation #artwork

You can find our latest collaboration with Nike Savvas, ‘A Lifetime of Summers’, suspended from the ceiling of The Exchange in Sydney’s Darling Square. This immersive artwork is made of 9,200 brightly coloured tabs, suspended from 715 wires. It’s an ever-changing sensory installation of shifting colour and movement. @lendlease Keep up to date with our projects by following @uapcompany #uap #madebyuap #uapcompany #incrediblethings #NikeSavvas #TheExchange #DarlingSquare #Sydney #ALifeTimeofSummers #art #publicart #artist #installation #artwork

Capability Weekend! Lost-wax casting is one of two casting methods offered at our Rock Tavern foundry. For this process, a prototype of the sculpture is moulded, then cast in wax. After it is refined by the artisans in our wax department the replica is dipped in a ceramic slurry to form a hard shell, enabling molten metal to be poured in and the wax to melt out. This method of casting technique is best used to capture the intricate details of an artwork. Our wax department has delivered sculptures for artists such as Hank Willis Thomas, Jeff Koons and Ursula von Rydingsvard using this casting method. Stephen Mok’s designs extend to over 70 portable artworks, including entry signage, freestanding, and wayfinding elements. Each one of Stephen’s works were printed on vinyl and attached to custom made frames. The larger-scale works were printed on smaller custom-made frames and put together like a puzzle. @mynrma @stephenmokart Keep up to date with our projects by following @uapcompany #uap #madebyuap #uapcompany #incrediblethings #NRMA #NRMABrightfutures #StephenMok #Art #Publicart #behindthescenes #installation #artwork #sculpture

Mariko Mori’s ‘Cycloid V’ has been installed in the Toranomon Hills Business Tower in Tokyo, Japan. In 2018 we worked with the artist and Sean Kelly Gallery to engineer and build this sculpture. To achieve the form of ‘Cycloid V’, the sculpture was hand-formed by rolling and hammering sheet metal, with seams fully welded and hand-polished. @Marikomori @Seankellyny Keep up to date with our projects by following @uapcompany. #PhotoRepost by @seankellyny & @plasternyc Our New York team worked closely with Antony Gormley and Thomas Arnold of Alta Art Production to bring ‘New York Clearing’ to life. Our designers and project managers helped realise the artist’s vision by assisting with 3D modelling and refining the structure, materials and construction methods of the sculpture. @anthonygromley420 @bts_connect @brooklynbridgepark Keep up to date with our projects by following @uapcompany... #uap #madebyuap #uapcompany #incrediblethings #antonygormley #bts #connect_bts #connect_bts_newyork #brooklynbridgepark #art #publicart #installation #artwork #sculpture #fabrication #collaboration #artist See more

Oscar Week! Finally, after a three-month process, the statuettes are mirror polished and electroplated with 24 karat gold at Epner Technology in Brooklyn. The statuette's base, also cast in bronze, is given a smooth black finish. After the awards, a mirror-polished engraved bronze plate is attached with the winner's name and category. The iconic Oscar stands at 13.5 inches tall and weighs 8.5 pounds. @theacademy Keep up to date with our projects by following @uapcompany #uap #madebyuap #uapcompany #incrediblethings #UAPPolichTallix #Oscars #Oscars2020 #academyawards #AmericanMade #GeorgeStanley #OscarStatuette #fabrication #sculpture #BehindTheScenes

Oscar Week! 3D printed Wax models of the statuettes are created by using the blended 3D scans. These wax models are then used to create the ceramic shells of which 1860F molten bronze is poured into, creating the solid form of the Oscar Statuette. @theacademy Keep up to date with our projects by following @uapcompany #uap #madebyuap #uapcompany #incrediblethings #UAPPolichTallix #Oscars #Oscars2020 #academyawards #AmericanMade #GeorgeStanley #OscarStatuette #fabrication #sculpture #BehindTheScenes

Oscar Week! The original Oscar statuette was sculpted in 1928 by artist George Stanley. Since then, the essence of the sculpture has remained the same. However, some subtle changes have occurred over time. When our Rock Tavern foundry started fabricating the Oscars in 2016, they 3D scanned a classic Oscar from 1928 as well as a modern 2015 Oscar. These two scans were blended to make the 2016 design closer to George Stanley's original Art Deco Sculpture, which is used to this ...day.@theacademy Keep up to date with our projects by following @uapcompany A.M.P.A.S. #uap #madebyuap #uapcompany #incrediblethings #UAPPolichTallix #Oscars #Oscars2020 #academyawards #AmericanMade #GeorgeStanley #OscarStatuette #3DScan #DesignRobotics #Design See more
