As if the capping Worker’s Compensation payments and cutting back on medical benefits weren’t enough, the Business Council has successfully convinced the New York State legislature to change the way permanent injuries are evaluated. The Workers’ Compensation Board has been directed to produce new guidelines by January 2018 to address permanent losses of use to your extremities-arms, legs, han...ds and feet. THESE NEW GUIDELINES WILL BE EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, EFFECTING CURRENT OPEN CASES AS WELL AS NEW CASES. The Business Council is the hugely powerful lobbying arm and is made up of many of the largest insurers and businesses in New York state. The direction to change the guidelines was their idea, so you can bet that a change in the guidelines means one thing, A FURTHER REDUCTION IN BENEFITS FOR THE INJURED WORKER WHILE EMPLOYERS AND INSURANCE COMPANIES INCREASE THEIR PROFITS ON THE BACK OF THOSE SAME WORKERS.
