#wsava #vet #obesity #maltrattamento #cane #dog

Can you spot the fake? We had difficulty, too! The collar that was in the tin on the left is counterfeit. An article was recently released about reactions to... Seresto collars. Unfortunately, counterfeiters are taking advantage of the product’s good reputation by selling fake products illegally, which not only just may not work, but also might harm your pet. One of our clients recently brought her dog in for an adverse reaction to a Seresto collar, which she believes was purchased from Amazon. The poor little guy’s skin was very inflamed and super itchy. Of course, any dog can have an allergic reaction and this dog tends to be extra sensitive, but after seeing the packaging for the product, we began to question if it was a counterfeit product. Indeed, it was! As you can see, the tins are slightly different, and the fake collar is missing the Bayer logo and lot number. Bayer has a specific team that tries to trace these counterfeits and we have reached out to their team to report it. Please use caution in the purchase of any over-the-counter flea and tick products. Counterfeiters produce what appears to be an exact copy of a product to trick you into buying it. The wrong drug, no drug, or incorrect dosage could pose a serious health risk to your pet. We are always happy to give specific recommendations for your pet’s needs. EDITED TO ADD: This post has gotten so many shares and poor little Odie that this happened to is now famous! Since there seems to be some confusion over our post, we want to clarify. The tin on the left in the first two photos is fake. This was verified directly with Elanco (formerly Bayer which is where the logo originates from). Believe it or not, Elanco has actually made multiple follow up phone calls about this incident. The tin on the right is real and was taken off our shelf at the clinic. Regarding the last two photos of the collars, the collar on the left is real and the one on the right is fake. The real collar was not taken from the tin on the right in the first photo. No, we aren't trying to pull the wool over anyone's eyes and we didn't claim that it came from the tin in the photo. You can see it still has the seal on it! We only provided a photo of it against the fake so our clients and other pet owners know what to look for. The real collar with the Bayer logo and lot # came from one of our personal pets. The real tin in the photo went back on our shelf to sell to our clients. The lot # on the tin and the lot # on the collar you purchase should absolutely match. If you believe you have purchased a fake collar from a source other than your pet's veterinarian, contact Bayer Veterinary Product Support at (800) 422-9874, and please, please don't put it on your pet! Unfortunately, there are lots of counterfeit products out there. This isn't exclusive to Seresto collars. Please be smart about where you purchase any of your pet’s medications! We hope this post help saves another pet from going through the discomfort that Odie went through!

As Spring starts, we are getting more and more phone calls about red bites on your dogs stomach. We wanted to give everyone this information, these are a type o...f fly bite, and dogs generally get them from laying in the grass. They look terrible, but usually do not bother the dogs. They heal quickly on their own, and do not require any treatment. These flies are usually around for a few weeks every spring and then go away. We hope this eases any worry that you may have had about your own dog! If you have any concerns please feel free to call the clinic for more information! See more

Join us live on december 1 for giving tuesday https://fb.me/e/dbr4veVMO PLEASE LEAVE THEM IN THE SHOPS ... The vast majority of these rawhide products and treats come from China. Their journey starts with the hides being soaked in a toxic sodium sulphide to remove the hair and fat. More chemicals are used in order to split the hide into layers which is then washed with hydrogen peroxide to give the white "pure" look and remove the rancid smell. Now comes the pretty festive colours and the glue to form cute shapes. They regularly cause intestinal blockages and choking. The chews go slippery when wet and are near impossible to get hold of to save a choking dog. Please be safe with your dogs! See more
