Manny Bacon American Legion Post 1758

We had a great turnout for placing flags on cemeteries this morning. There were about 30 people, 15 or so post members, some sons, daughters, grandchildren, Boy Scouts from Troop 86 and Venture Crew 1758 members. 800 flags! Many hands make it much easier on us. St Denis is a pretty big cemetery and Hopewell Cemetery isn't much smaller. The help was greatly appreciated! Now I just have to hit the 3 smaller cemeteries in the Shenandoah and Wiccoppee areas tomorrow morning when it's a little cooler, Thank you all!!

This Saturday (5/22/21) our post will be placing flags on veterans graves in East Fishkill Cemeteries. We will be starting at 10:00AM at St. Denis on Beekman Road. We could always use some help if you are available, everyone is welcome to join us honoring our veterans. Great learning experience for scouts and other youth.

Post Commander Jim Reynolds stopped by the Castle Point Food Pantry today with $500.00 in ShopRite gift cards. Jim Mullens states the Food Pantry is very appreciative of the gift cards. The cards are used to purchase supplies to supplement donated food items.

Commander Reynolds was contacted by a member of the Honor Flight team about a Vietnam Veteran who was in ill health and mentioned that he was no longer able to put up and untangle his American Flag. Reynolds reached out to the veteran and asked if he would allow our post to install a new tangle free pole and flag. Arrangements were made to purchase a flag kit and on April 24th John Call and Jim Reynolds installed it for the veteran. He was very appreciative of our endeavors.
