A theater collective is a reflection of a practice evolved over many decades by theater practitioners around the world. It is really a commitment that a group of artists make to working together towards shaping an idea. Rosalba Rolón Rosalba is the current Artistic Director of Pregones/PRTT and one of the Pregones’ founding members. Rosalba is an accomplished actor, director, and dramaturg and leads the sustained development of Pregones/PRTT’s acting and music ensemble, cr...eative methodology, and original repertory. She is revered visionary and a passionate creator of musical theater that celebrates Latinx voices and cultures. Rosalba is the recipient of the Doris Duke Artist Award, New York Latin ACE Gold Award in Theater, Teer Pioneer Award from National Black Theatre, and USA Fontanals Fellowship in Theater and Performance. She serves on the boards of the National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures (NALAC) and United States Artists (USA), and is a faculty member of both the NALAC Leadership Institute and the Association of Performing Arts Presenters Emerging Leadership Institute. Filmed primarily at Pregones Theater in the South Bronx, SPOTLIGHT features standout theater, music, dance, and film/media artists you ought to know! Each episode is a snappy 30-minute compendium of conversation and performance. This Special Replay Episode pays tribute to the great Miriam Colón, with archival footage and photos, and remembrances by colleagues at Pregones/Puerto Rican Traveling Theater.

When Miriam was awarded the National Medal of Arts in 2014 it was for her contributions to acting and innovations in American theater.
