"We can't stop time. But with the right type and amount of physical activity, we can help stave off many age-related health problems and live life to its fullest. Regular physical activity can benefit your physical, mental, and social health, and prevent or improve many chronic conditions, such as heart disease, diabetes, obesity, depression, and some cancers." #WellnessWednesday https://www.choosept.com//9-physical-therapist-tips-to-hel

While pumpkins make for a great addition to our fall decor, they can actually have a positive affect on us if we incorporate them into our diets. So this season, use pumpkins for more than just Jack-O-Lanterns!!! Jack-o-lantern #WellnessWednesday

A testimonial from Michael Tiffany. "On a beautiful Sunday morning, June 30, 2019, my life was forever altered. I am a 62yo avid cyclist and fitness buff who was struck by a pick-up truck while cycling on a local country road. I was rushed to Strong Memorial Hospital where they first saved my life due to severe internal bleeding and then assessed the multitude of injuries. I sustained multiple rib fractures, a collapsed lung, multiple vertebral and pelvic fractures, a fractu...red fibula, severe contusions and abrasions and Grade IV AC separation. I spent 3 days in ICU in critical condition and 2 days in the trauma unit. I had surgery to place a plate and 6 screws in my pelvis to help stabilize it. When I returned home I was confined to a hospital bed for 6 weeks and placed in TLSO back brace, 24/7 for 4 months. I was not allowed to begin therapy until August 13. On that day I entered the doors at Prescription Fitness and Physical Therapy, feebly walking with the aid of a walker and began my long recovery. Dr. Josh Kerlan assessed me and prescribed exercises and activities to help me recover as much of my strength, flexibility and mobility as possible. But, I first had to learn to walk again. He kept me motivated, entertained and physically challenged for the next 8 months. I returned to work in September 2019 but was severely limited. In December, I had a second surgery to repair my injured left AC joint. This added surgery complicated my recovery and Dr. Kerlan made the necessary adjustments to my treatment protocol and I began to gain strength and flexibility. His empathetic and skillful care was just what I needed. I am happy to say that with my motivation and Dr. Kerlan’s expertise, I have returned to cycling in the form of a fatbike; riding the area trails and working out in the my gym. I have ridden over 400 miles since June 30, 2020. I credit Prescription Fitness and Physical Therapy for my significant progress. My recovery journey continues. A sincere thank you, from my family and I!!" See more
