Mothers teach us to value everyone equally, to treat others the way we would like to be treated. As we honor #MothersDay, we proudly recognize the diversity of family structures and thank each and every mother figure out there for personifying a love that overcomes all obstacles, biases, and inequities.
Pride Live proudly celebrates Asexual Visibility Day and all our aromantic + ACE-identified families around the world. Diverse in definition, Asexuality is a broad scope in which everyone is beautiful and valid in their way of living.
When marginalized communities come together in solidarity to buck the systems of oppression, incredible change can happen. Today's Stonewall History fact remembers the birth of the Revolutionary People's Constitutional Convention of 1970.
Our society must commit to providing the vital resources needed to protect vulnerable LGBTQ+ youth. Medical News Today discusses how the oppression and discrimination encountered at school, at home, and in their wider community are leading to prevalent mental health challenges for LGBTQ+ youth.
Thank you to President-Elect Joe Biden for standing up for the LGBTQ+ community and being the first leader to recognize the Transgender community in his victory speech. The future is looking a lot more colorful! As America awaits the official results of the 2020 Presidential election, we're proudly taking a moment to celebrate the hard-fought victories of the LGBTQ+ candidates. Check out the new 2020 'Rainbow Wave' that is ushering in a new generation of representation!
We believe in a world where all individuals do not channel fear and hatred, but instead truly live long and prosper with pride. If you're in need of a feel-good read, check out this sci-fi fan's brilliant analysis on the history of gender fluidity on the television series 'Star Trek'. Cheers to the deeply beloved franchise for continuing to boldly go where no one has gone before.
The hardships of 2020 did not stop our LGBTQ+ family overseas from celebrating their pride loudly and proudly. With their COVID-19 cases at record lows, over 130,000 Taiwanese LGBTQ+ citizens took to the streets to responsibly march and celebrate hard-earned equal marriage civil rights over the past year. The Pride event was the largest of any in 2020 since the pandemic began. Bravo to Taiwan for firmly (and safely) establishing itself as the most progressive, queer-friendly spot in Asia!
We’re marching proudly into a new week with some inspiring #MotivationMonday words from the late, great LGBTQ+ icon and Trans rights activist Sylvia Rivera! May your true you always shine through. : Valerie Shaff
Eat, drink, and be scary, it's #Halloween! With pagan roots dating back thousands of years, the spooktacular observance became prominent in America by the 19th century and now ranks as the second most popular commercial holiday in the nation. But did you know Halloween also serves as a day of liberation and play for queer people of all varieties? Learn the history behind how Halloween incorporates the colorful storied past of the LGBTQ+ community: buff.ly/31Y10eO
Congratulations to the New York Red Bulls for making the 2020 Major League Soccer (MLS) Playoffs!
A huge round of applause to #StonewallDay 2020 Ambassador and Former Senior Advisor to President Barack Obama, Valerie Jarrett on joining the official board of world-renowned fashion company, Ralph Lauren! Pride Live congratulates our Charitybuzz auction winner, Shane Jordan (@shanewjordan on IG)! Shane's generous auction bid has won him a social media follow from the King of Bravo himself, LGBTQ+ icon and host of Watch What Happens Live, Andy Cohen! Congratulations Shane!
The Future of LGBTQ+ TV is Non-Binary! Our friends at The Advocate sat down with #SerAnzoategui, #QuintessaSwindell, and other important gender non-conforming movers and shakers in the entertainment industry to share the needed steps Hollywood must take to address nonbinary representation.
October 26th marks Intersex Awareness Day! Honored since 1996, Intersex Awareness Day is an (inter)national day of action aimed to end shame, secrecy, and unwanted genital cosmetic surgeries on intersex children. Pride Live recognizes all the brave individuals who proudly live their truth with a body that doesn’t fit the standard definitions of what it means to be male or female. Check out the Teen Vogue article below to learn more about this important grassroots movement in our beautiful and diverse LGBTQ+ community.
We're welcoming our community into a new week with a #MotivationMondays quote from #StonewallDay Ambassador and LGBTQ+ activist/icon, George Takei. Let's continue to rise up every day, proudly living our authentic, true selves in the face of adversity. : Luke Fontana
It's officially ACE Week (formerly known as 'Asexual Awareness Week')! As we celebrate our incredibly courageous ACE siblings, it's equally important to note that asexual people are among the least understood members of the LGBTQ+ community. Queer existence, Queer community-building, and Queer love (of any kind) are revolutionary acts. Today, and every day, promote the inclusion of asexuality as a part of the spectrum of our human colors. To all our ACE friends and family, we proudly salute and stand with you.
