If implemented as proposed, these drastic reductions will negatively affect the ability of Medicare beneficiaries across the nation to access drug- and surgery-free chiropractic care, because chiropractors will be financially unable to care for Medicare patients. On October 30th, H.R. 8702, the Holding Providers Harmless from Medicare Cuts During COVID-19 Act of 2020, was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives. This comprehensive bill would ensure that payments to chiropractors would remain at current 2020 levels through 2022, eliminating the drastic potential cuts to the profession found in the 2021 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Proposed Rule and ensuring that access to chiropractic services remains available to New York’s more than 2 million Medicare beneficiaries.
