Analog love with drummer David Wasik and Ed Croft on upright bass during a tracking session for some Bosa Nova grooves at Propellerhead Media. iPhone video synched to the final mix which includes some sample overdubs by David. Look for these hypnotic beats in The Waz' solo performances! Setup involves eight Toft input channels as mic preamps direct to Apogee converters flat, then eight analog outs through various outboard processing to an analog mix in the console back to PT.... Here’s one the songs from a fun mix project I recently did for HEARsay with David Kane, Cathy Carfagna, and David Meinzer. Everyone tracked themselves in their own socially distant recording environments and I did a hybrid analog/digital mix using 100% hardware outboard effects processing including vintage Lexicon and Eventide Audio boxes. After the typical techno freakouts and temporary sheer terror, we're successfully up and running on Pro Tools Ultimate 2020.3 on MacOS Mojave! (Catalina is to be avoided). While the Covid-19 shutdown started out as a time to do tasks such as software updates, production/post business is actually booming, with clients and voice talent working remotely. Stay safe and healthy, everyone, I'm here if you need me!

Long-awaited, extremely difficult, and never-ending reorganization of my leftover recording gear, music listening, and guitar rig at home has resulted in this quite capable monstrosity in my upstairs office, featuring my whole guitar/ambient/midi setup and my old but very awesome Mac Pro cheesegrater Pro Tools 10HD system with 24 channels of I/O. The Good Old Mackie 24-8 at the center of it all is overflowing with inputs, having every single input, tape return, and aux return... populated with 56 inputs. Hafler pro studio monitors for recording, 400w amp with JBL 4602 wedges for house-shaking guitar volume, and classic JBL L-100 Century speakers which I rebuilt with tri-amped power for music listening and mixing. Listening sources are tuner, CD, cassette, laptop, and turntable via my early 1960s Fisher KX-200 tube amp as a phono preamp (got it in 1974). While the big rig at Propellerhead Media still will be attended to for bigger ongoing music projects (and the temporarily rare paying audio gig), this is where I will be fiddling about with embarrassingly experimental sounds as we #shelterinplace.
