I will be hatching out a limited supply of royal palm turkeys and pekin ducklings (mixed flock so may have some cayuga or blue swedish traits ). Pm if interested in sourcing baby birds locally!

Anyone know of any teens or young adults out there who'd be interested in some kind of farm type internship over the summer? Basically looking for someone to shadow me and provide a second pair of hands/eyes on the homestead and help with chores such as rotationally grazing the sheep/cleaning up paddocks, stalls and aisles, feeding and training, even weeding or babysitting if those are more enjoyable jobs . In return I can offer free lessons or a free on farm lease type situation. Not sure if there's any interest but in the off chance someone might be interested in learning the ins and outs of homesteading have them message the page! ^_^

Hardened off some of the bigger cool weather seedlings over the week and got them planted in the raised beds this weekend. Broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and lettuce are still inside waiting to be hardened off and brought out but we still have a few more weeks before I can plant them in the crop garden. Picked up two new ewes on saturday, Jacob sheep, and sheared/trimmed hooves and dewormed before introducing them to the older ewes. Almost ready to get the weaned ewes out to pasture!!

Mr man has been doing so well. He was going stir crazy in his stall, neccessary to keep his wound out of the mud, so with hard frozen ground he got to go out to the arena to run!

And back to the cute and cuddly things, like the geese and ducklings that showed up yesterday ! totally worth it.

So you think you want to homestead? Here's a scenario. How would you react? I spent two hours last night rounding up lambs, ear tagging, checking hooves etc. And seperating from mommas. Work finally done at 10 pm.... Go out to do chores today after 45 mins of putting clothes, boots, coats etc. On kids. Sheep are running willy nilly around the barn because their stall neighbors (the goats) decided to bust through the wall to get to the goodies that the lambs had and let all the babies out. Attampt to put babies away but have to close the goats in the lambs pen to fix the wall. Supposed to be building new goat paddock and fixing fence outside; instead catching lambs and moving animals around. Try to move the pig, figuring I'll clean that stall while I'm at it, and he decides to bust out the door (that's shut but not locked). Loose dog (mine) decides she wants bacon. Cussing and hollarin, I finally catch dog. Turn off fence to go round up pig who broke through fence cause of dog. Tell dogs they're usless and I'll do it myself. Pig doesnt want to go in and proves to be a pill to try to move but eventually herd him back to a stall. Fence needs fixing, other fence not started at all, gotta collect supplies that are all over the farm. Baby starts fussing cause its nap time. Will have to sort lambs and finish feeding after kids take naps and eat lunch. Not my day. Super disheartened. Do you really want to homestead?

What is going on at the homestead this week? Farm daughter turns 1 year old on the 24th (tomorrow)! Had a ewe with milk fever who is in recovery today. Lambs are getting huge and are going to be ready to go to new homes soon! Geese and ducklings are on their way in the mail. Gonzo is on stall rest having his wrappings changed every three days I am gearing up with deworming and hoof trimming to get eveyone out of the barn after this weekend. And, seeds are here!! Have been working Demi to get muscle on for trails this summer. And! Started those seeds and am gonna find myself so busy with the garden soon! Bring it

Welcome home big guy. Lollipop farm hauled him back here this morning. Mr. Gonzo still has to be on stall rest for another two ish weeks but I'm just glad he's safe and sound with me.

Where are the Maeve and Oakley "American Farm dog" pups today? When you purchase a pup from our family you are inheriting our family with them! I love recent photos and updates. Enjoy some photos of these beauties!

With this new movie out, "Dog" with Channing Tatum, I have seen a LOT of posts about people panicking over the Belgian Malinois breed becoming overly popular when every Tom, Dick or Harry thinks he should go out and buy one because they're "Baddass". Welcome to Rattlin Bog farm! Our farm sits just next to the train tracks in Bergen NY. When we first moved in we noticed that on certain chilly nights our property would become shrouded in fog so thick we couldn't see more than a few feet in front of us, while the whistling and rumbling of the train could be heard as if it were just in front of us. It wasn't until later that we learned that our small homestead lies only miles from the Bergen wetlands; which is home to many ...special creatures, including the Mississauga rattlesnake and others that can't be found anywhere other than here. We have our own special ecosystem here on the farm that we try to promote and care for as well as the livestock and animals that we've brought in. We knew almost immediately that we wanted to call our home the "Rattlin' Bog", which is also an old gaelic song which pays homage to our family roots. The property has it's downsides being part of a swampland, especially during the spring when mud is everywhere, but we are fortunate that during the summer it does dry up and the grass grows rich and lush. We love it and are honored to be the stewards of this homestead.

Its looking like this sweet girl took and we will be expecting Border Aussies around July 20th!! I am super excited about this mix, Maeve is an incredibly talented herd and farm dog despite her compact 27 lbs and Oakley is an extremely sweet, trainable small Australian Shepherd. These pups will be especially suited to be family pets and all around farm pups!
