Was at a fabulous bat mitzva last night! Not only did the bat mitzva girl speak beautifully about the parsha and so poignantly about her amazing family but the... atmosphere was joyful and festive! Shout out to Noam Sokolow and Rave catering for the delicious food! All I can say is the my son (and everyone else for that matter) found the lamb chops life changing!!!! See more

I am sure folks are tired of the stories and I don’t mean that in a bad way. I can’t help but share mine. In February I got married. A few days after returning ...I saw the news and met with my team and said, This isn’t good. If China has this it will effect everything and fast! We were working fast on a plan with designers to come up with Covid related items to create safety procedures, masks and more. As the calls from clients came in cancelling our hard work on job after job after job we slowly but surely erased our very full white board. The fear I had I kept inside as I didn’t want others to have that stress. I mean why would I? It was nothing right? I called another meeting and said, There will be no Coachella, there will be no premiere or corporate launch. We need to prepare. Just like I did in 2007/8. Most of my staff didn’t even know what that meant. My spine hardened as I sure did. Funny thing is, we have been trained to act and handle emergency situations but there was nothing we could do. A Stay at Home order took place and as I watched a city I live in as i commute to NYC and LA get hit so hard as if it were another intense attack my heart and mind knew. This is different, this is like nothing we can control. This is going to ruin and control our future. This isn’t going to be a month or two but a year if not more. What pains me the most isn’t what happened as god knows we were all caught off guard and did our best, it’s more of the comments from government officials and the so called pivot we should do in order to make a living. I think we know what i am talking about. We aren’t sitting home because we are lazy. We live for events, trade shows, concerts and magical life moments. The Government from city / state and federal begged companies (small companies) to change their operations to help create items to support our front line workers. Well just as we have seen online, amongst our friends and colleagues we did. We all did. We invested, pivoted and did exactly what was asked to help. What hurt us ??? Operation Warp Speed. Forget the little guys like us, investing what they had left to ensure we were getting ahead of the pandemic. Instead the US Govt went to the big companies and gave them the multi million dollar contracts and shun the little guys. How do you ask the American public for help - to spend money and invest to help and then PIVOT to bigger stores?!? Even if they needed a bigger supply could they not have tried to use what was asked from us??? I say this because maybe some of the companies I see going out of business could have sustained if they were seen as we should be seen like American Airlines, Boeing and all the other travel / venues saved by the US Government. I am seriously shocked that this is still a conversation. Who allows such favoritism and then grand stands and complains as we ask for added help on unemployment? It’s hypocritical. We make magic, build scenic, sew linens and are the suppliers to huge builds and dreamed up events. We make it happen. Are we different than Fruit of the Loom? No guys, we are just 12 million people in smaller fulfillment houses not big enough to be seen. How can 12 million people that have contributed billions to the US Economy be up for debate between the Dems and the Republicans? They sure see our taxes when it’s time. They sure ask for things and then play favorites and forget us altogether. I choose not to be forgotten. I choose not to forget my Captains, my Caterers, Builders, floral designers, union workers, non union, warehouse workers, party rentals and service staff. Why are we up for discussion? Why can’t they stand tall as they did for others to keep us afloat? We didn’t pivot? Well ladies and gentleman, we did pivot. Nyc faced a scary spike in cases and I had friends suffer. Then the rest of the country. I don’t want a hand out. I want what’s fair. You close small business you might as well write your ticket to seeing our economy in its own pandemic. Support small business. Support those that work and have passion for all industries and stop wasting time grandstanding. I am so freaking sick and tired of the politics. Who wants to listen to the facts? First to close last to open!!! Should that be our new mantra? Whoever reads this share it and make a difference for events for anyone you relate too. Small business is the backbone to the USA. Don’t let these debt buying fund houses take over everything we have built. Give us PPE contracts- Give us PPP - Give us benefits. This is not a sliding scale folks this is support - vaccine and we are back to work. Until then, keep your sliding scale and give us the darn support we need. Help us and stop playing with our lives with false promises. We are here for you. Do the right thing. Once and for all. Thank you and I don’t ask for debates. Suffering, loss and change is what we all feel. Support. Support Live Events Coalition (National) Group Support Small Businesses. Thank you for your time. Thank you for your efforts. I don’t just thank you my kids do. All of our families do. God Bless America. Isn’t that where we live?
