I found the rock in the center in Newfoundland (aka The Rock) in 2013. I was originally thinking it would be a pendant so I cut it into an oval. I was not feeling it so I decided to use it to embellish an old cedar box I had. I stitched the bezel and beads to a piece of cloth in a pattern echoing the stone. To attach it to the box I cut and flattened copper pipe to make a frame and painted the sides of the box. This was a project that started with no real vision of the final design. As I finished each step, I figured out the solution for the next. Fun project!

I was given a chunk of chevron amethyst too oddly shaped for a traditional cabochon, so I cut it with no flat side. Amazingly I did not grind my fingertips off either. Now to design a setting!
