Hero Episode 10 Positive Reinforcement: Recall Leash Biting Scent Work Obedience: Tactile Command... I am using positive reinforcement to proof my recall with Hero. Also Hero likes to bite the leash and I used his spanetous behavior and shaped it to a command in operant conditioning. Introducing the first of many aromas Clove, which will pave a way for footprint tracking and American Kennel Club Scent Work. Also teaching Hero to pay more attention to my body, i'm using my legs as a cue for stay or heel. When working in Positive reinforcement any behavior I want to shape into a command has to be about 4k to 6k repetitions a month. Hero Episode 9 Barking Lot Dog Run The Dog Park is a place where puppies congregate to play together, socialize with other puppies, learn manners and to grow up... without showing dog aggression. Traveling to Missouri with Hero for the NePoPo School and traveling back to New York, it was time to test Hero’s open public obedience. Hero had to do about 5 commands, hold a stay'' command, in addition Hero had to Heel with me, Do his Sit, Down, and Stand commands without playing or engaging with other dogs in the dog run. After these Exercises and repetitions Hero will pass we can concentrate on more advanced obedience. I have only been training Hero for about 2 weeks, and we are off leash doing obedience in very heavy distractions. Now that his obedience skyrocketed and he is off leash trained, we can have more fun with off leash hikes in Forest Park Nature Trails. Episode 10 would be Hero learning how to Scent Identify various aromas and Track footprints / Man Trailing. NePoPo is a dog training system where the dog learns to do the behavior on cue always, with heart and soul. Hero Episode 8 Separation Anxiety Separation anxiety is a common phone call I receive; with the rise of people going back physically to work/office, it's the fi...rst time the dog has been left alone and doesn't understand/comprehend the picture. Hero arrived with separation anxiety during Episode 1, endless crying in the crate. Yet, I understood I had to change his behavior and by repetition with deep practice Hero understood he had no hope in using barking or crying to be let out. Twenty to forty percent of dogs presented to veterinary behavioral specialists suffer from this disorder. Taking the time to train your dog to be exposed to various environmental settings and having a proper dog training structure through deep repetitions with different environmental distractions is crucial. Dogs with no formal training who are left alone often express their emotional distress in destructive, excessive and unconventional ways. Your dog is not being spiteful or trying to get back at you for leaving the house. Your dog found his advantage and has HOPE that the more he/she barks or cries, someone will come.Unfortunately, their cry, yelp, or barking is a way your dog has found an advantage, through repetitions the crying and you going to check or let out of crate has giving the puppy growing up enough HOPE to endlessly bark or cry and be destructive, because he/she has HOPE someone will come. Herein lies the difference between proper dog training with repetitions and deep practice vs uneducated dog and no training and now it's time to go back to the office and your pup won't stop barking. This emotional distress can be taxing on both household and dog. It’s very important to expose your dog to many environmental settings and train in all reinforcement methods. Only through deep practice and daily repetitions, that separation anxiety is easily avoided without the use of medication from a Veterinarian.
