If you know someone who likes to cycle, consider giving a membership to Rochester Bicycling Club! You can also give an active RBC member a one year renewal. While many enjoy the scheduled rides, others value access to the club's route inventory for riding solo or with friends. Gift memberships bought during this holiday season are in effect until March 1, 2022.... For details see https://rochesterbicyclingclub.org/Gift
Throwback Thursday...Remember the days when 200 cyclists dressed in Santa outfits could ride closely together singing Christmas carols ? The Cycling Santa Charity ride will not take place this year, but the kids still have needs. If you would like to make a donation, stop in to DreamBikes (1060 University Ave) on Sat 12/5 10am -3pm. Gift cards to Wegmans, Tops, Target, Aldi, Walmart, or check made out to "The Center for Youth" will be greatly appreciated!
And for some, the season is not over! If you're interested in learning more about winter cycling, this webinar is for you...
The color is more vibrant this year than ever. This shot is from RBC's 'Dansville-Pardee' route. Sales pitch for the ride: ...with uphills so gentle you'll think the whole ride is downhill ..." Reality: the first 15 miles were a steady uphill! For more pics of this ride and others see https://www.meetup.com/RBC-NY/photos/
You never know what sights you'll see on a bike ride. This was a delightful scene on a country road in Wayne County last week. Wishing all of you a Happy Thanksgiving!
Looks like the weekend weather will be a bit cooler but no rain predicted. Club rides this weekend include 'Honeoye Falls- East Groveland' (long or short version) and 'Webster Wander.' Check our ride schedule for details and comments https://www.meetup.com/RBC-NY/events/ Our scheduled rides are coming to an end, but rides can be added anytime the weather allows.
Neat blog about the RCA's beginnings along with a nice tribute to Richard DeSarra, a year after his passing. Richard, you are missed!
For those of you who were looking forward to the annual Cycling Santa Charity Ride, it will not take place this year. The need for donations to the Center for Youth, however, is still there. See details for dropping off gift cards at DreamBikes (1060 University Ave) on Saturday Dec 5th from 10-3.
Stuck cycling in New York State this year. We're not suffering! It was a spectacular weekend no matter where you rode. Here's a couple shots from the 'Tour de Letchworth' ride on Saturday. For more pics of this ride and others see https://www.meetup.com/RBC-NY/photos/
Happy riders on RBC's 'Avon Amble' ride last weekend - thrilled to have a warm day in November, beautiful foliage, a great route and others to share it with. Drew was so happy that he asked if there was a way he could pay his RBC dues forward for the rest of his lifetime! For more pics of this ride and others see https://www.meetup.com/RBC-NY/photos/ Our season schedule came to a close, but keep your eyes on https://www.meetup.com/RBC-NY/ as members will likely post rides if the weather allows.

Sharing recent post regarding the Self Drive Act. Please do consider writing your legislators about the need for regulations to require that self driving vehicles clearly "see" cyclists, pedestrians and other road users!
We're posting an Action Alert received from the League of American Bicyclists regarding what are seen as significant deficiencies of the Self Drive Act, legisl...ation designed to regulate the development of self driving automobiles. At issue is the omission of standards that would require that self driving autos "SEE" all road users, including pedestrians and cyclists of all races/ethnicities. Additional information can be found in the the LAB blog post pasted below. Please do consider clicking on the Take Action button in the blog post to quickly and easily contact your representative on this matter! See more
