It's just a number... Sent out on a service call, at 3:30 am, for no heat in an M2 Freightliner. Typical repair on these trucks usually involve a new heater motor. But, in this case was told it probably just needed a fuse but the driver couldn't get it out. Me: I understand you just need a fuse.... She: One of the other driver replaced the fuse but it stopped working at my first stop. Diagnose a defective blower motor. While replacing it she was chatting it up with another driver, or maybe a dispatcher, through her headset. I couldn't tell when she was talking to me or the other person. At one point she said... She: It's cold, how do you stay warm doing this? Me: Been doing this since 87 so I'm use to it. She: (slight pause) I was 1 then... (a longer pause) Hey, (into her headset) he just told me he's been fixing trucks since I was in diapers. Me: (speechless) Yep, it's just a number. Stay warm Sara. Snow removal turned into ice removal. That's the problem, you sometimes don't know what's under that layer of snow. Be careful following that truck in front if you see blowing snow or ice.
