As a bond of admiration, Grandmothers all across America are sharing gifts of love with Grandmothers in Uganda and Kenya, Africa! In return, African Grandmothers joyfully sing to their gift-givers as a thank you!

These Grandmas are just harvesting their first crop of delicious Uganda Pineapple. The pineapple will be dried and packaged for distribution to markets in Europe and elsewhere. This is the current step in helping this community of Grandmas and Grandpas, who care for their orphaned grandchildren, to become self-sufficient. From the proceeds of the pineapple they will try to save funds to build their own dryers and production factory. Their older grandchildren will have employ...ment and their community will have a source of pride and enough income to support the many orphans living in this area. They had to hire a truck to collect the ripened pineapple at a very huge cost. This takes a lot of their savings and extends the time when they can build their own dryers and become truly self-sufficient. PLEASE consider making a specific donation to Reach the Children to enable them to purchase a truck to use on the Pineapple Farm. Go to 'Where Needed Most' and indicate 'Pineapple Truck' in the notes. These grandparents still need your help in order to get to a point where they can stand on their own. They are really working hard to make this happen. On a fun note: Some of the pineapple were too ripe for shipment and the grandparents had to take some of it home to feed their families. Now isn't that a "yummy" shame? :) See more

Halima Birungi is physically disabled....yet, she operates a center where she and former students teach disabled youth a skill that will help them to be self-supporting. Halima saved all of her life to buy land where she has planted Sugar Cane. She is now selling the crops in order to build a Boarding School where she can house disabled students while they learn. One of her teachers is a sightless man named Mandy who runs his own knitting machine: which he purchased with fu...nds he earned after learning to knit from Halima. Mandy is now married and his wife just gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. He is teaching for Halima because he wants to help other disabled people to have the opportunities he has been given to be self-supporting. Halima teaches her student to produce high quality clothing including school uniforms and sweaters and other apparel; which she then sells to schools and the public. This income provides, food, bedding, necessities and a small stipend to the students. In addition, it is used for purchasing new materials for knitting, clothes making and shoe making. Reach the Children loves to support people who want to support themselves and to lift others in their path. Reach the Children wants to support Halima in her efforts to help the disabled of Uganda. Without her and others like her, this group of valuable people would be left to fend for themselves on the streets and in the gutters. Please help us to help Halima. www.reachthechildren.org ORPHAN CARE - Halima See more

Be part of WORLD WATER DAY! Be part of the SOLUTION! There are thousands of dirty, filthy spring-fed watering-holes in Africa where thousands of families go daily to collect water for all of their needs. These spring "pools" are disease ridden and dangerous. When you give $1 to 'Where Needed Most',... We can transform these cesspools into CLEAN, SAFE water outlets; for drinking, cooking and personal hygiene. The water can also be used to sustain farm animals and provide water for kitchen gardens, so a family can grow food to help sustain life. PLEASE go to www.reachthechildren.org to learn more.

COMMUNITY MEANS GATHERING TOGETHER In August of 2014 a generous donor gave $4,000.00 to the RTC Luwero Community Center in Uganda, Africa. The money was given so that the community children could have a safe playground where they could play together while their Grandmother Guardians were having meetings, attending classes or just resting after working on their Grandmas Gardens plots. The older children would help their Grandmothers in the gardens or watch the younger children.... Eventually the center became a gathering place for all the women, some men and all of the children in the community. In spite of their efforts to maintain all of the playground equipment (swings, slide, jungle gym, merry-go-rounds and basketball hoops) after 7 years of wear and tear, some of the equipment just needs to be re-painted and some of it just needs to be replaced. The center itself has been there much longer and is also in need of repair, painting and improvements. The walls and floors are cracking. The community water tank needs to be replaced. The whole building needs to be repainted. This favorite community gathering place is a luxury for these poor, hard-working people. They cannot afford to fix it. They are willing to labor and do as much as they can, but they need help with the expenses of materials and expertise. If we could raise $8,000, we could do it all for them. Please help us provide a place where friends and neighbors can lift and support each other when they meet as a community. Please help us provide a safer place for the community children to play. Due to the recent upsurge in the COVID 19 world-wide crisis many more families in Africa have been left without the ability to secure food and many are very hungry. When you give to 'Where Needed Most', We can provide emergency food staples for immediate need and kitchen garden supplies so a family can grow food to help sustain life. THE GOATS WILL MULTIPLY In a rural community in Africa it is very difficult to feed and clothe a family. In addition, it is even more difficult to send children to school, seek medical help and provide opportunities for a better life for children. Raising goats can be the answer to some, if not all, of these problems AND provides a way to MULTIPLY the benefits for many. Adults receive training on goat keeping: breeding, feeding, medical needs, housing and protection. They ...then prepare a place for the animal and they save enough funds for future breeding and possible medical emergencies. (Their "skin" in the game.) When the training is completed the family is given one or two pregnant goats with the understanding that the first two female kids from each goat are then given to other families who are also trained and ready to receive their goat(s). This process is repeated over and over again. Once this "sharing" obligation is met, the family is free to raise their own goat herd. Goats are an excellent source of protean rich milk, cheese, yogurt, meat and even leather as their productive years pass away. Not only do these items supplement the pressing needs of the family, but they can also be bartered or sold for other needed items such as eggs, chickens, school fees, school uniforms, medicine, clothing, garden seeds and so on. Goats are a wonderful donation for any family in rural Africa and can really be the means of starting on a road of self-reliance. PLEASE GIVE A FAMILY A LIFE-CHANGING GOAT (or two). See more
